Tracking at about 500 all week and suddenly shot to 850! Anybody think that's going to stir up a run, or just make things tougher!? What do you fish with the water that high? More wieght, same places, or do you look for other structure?

750 cfs is great water, the fish that are in the river are moving and this water will bring in the rest. The river is full of fish!
Fish the transition water between the holes and use only enough weight to tick the bottom, get a natural drift going and there are many players.I was into fish all day today on streamers, stones, estaz egg patterns,in various colors.

Finless,

500-800cfs is not high water. 750 to 1000 is ideal water to fish. Below 500 the fish get line shy real quick.

This year it's been low all season, finally getting real water this week. Fishing only gets better with the higher water. 1800cfs+, then it's starts getting tricky.

Don't cross or wade out too far over 750.

Tight Lines,

OldSalt

750 is ideal,  is still some what safe,  but it opens alot of pockets that cant be fished at 335, it ideal for steelies, makes for about another 5-10 min added  to landing a big king  but with the steelies it helps keep your line out of the rocks when u get hooked up.   plus all the fish staged will flood into the river this week

i believe they are running 1000 now and it's more like 1500 with the run off.  i was up saturday til tuesday.  fished DSR moday morning for 2 hrs... stopped counting hook ups at #10, and i put 3 on the bank.  i worked the rest of the time...  but when i left the fly stretch was packed with fish.  my brother fished DSR this morning and hooked 6 steelhead and a few salmon right from the bank.  everyone got scared of the high water so he fished alone.  he also said most of the river is black with fish.  key word BLACK.  bring on the silver steel.  for anyone going up, don't be intimidated,  you will have to fish soft water seams from the bank.  spots you wuld never fish before.  good luck everyone.

oh yeah, and i was priveleged enough to meet PAFISHER while i was up there.  him and his friend joe stopped by my place on sunday.  they are both two gentlemen that i would enjoy to share some water with some day... fish on

guys, don't get so intimidated.  there is plenty of water to fish in high water.  and 1400 isn't flood stage.  there are many spots in 1400 where you don't have to cast more than 5 or 10 feet off the bank.  choose your water wisely and good luck

Rob Adamski's day today sounds like it cvonsisted of shooting and wading. No fish, just high water. Reports he got sounded good around 2A and the trestle pools, however- I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to land 20 lbs ****ed of fish from the bank with my 8wt. Cant imagine the Ballpark being remotely safe right now. 1400. Great.
