silverman47 -> Couple of questions about fishing the salmon river? (10/6/2009 9:01:29 PM)

I delayed my trip a week because of weather concerns.

1. does it look like the heavy rains will materailize this week?  I was looking at the weather forcast for last friday to this friday 10-9.

2. How is the salmon river people wise?  Is it combat fishing or can you find some mild solitude and fish if you walk.

I am definately thinking about fishing next week 10-12 to 10-16?

Is the run mostly over?  Should I fish high or low on the river,  don't plan to fish the DSR.

I know weather will delay the steelhead running somewhat, but I don't know if the salmon will hold out a little longer for better water or if its a completely biological clock thing with them.

If the fishing won't be worth crap just say so.

Ok thanks again

I'm at the SR this week and you should n't have postponed your trip 'cause there are tons of fish and the water is fine,it takes alot of rain to affect the SR unlike Erie streams.Right now they are running 750 which I like.
Next week there will be plenty of fish and plenty of people, after that there will still be lots of fish and way fewer people.
