While me and a couple of my hunting buddies were heading out to grab lunch after the morning hunt on Saturday, we were driving past a farm and a large bird flew up out of a field and landed in a tree about 50 yards from the road. We stopped the truck to get a look at it and sure enough it was a bald eagle. None of us have ever seen one in our area before and were shocked to see it. Has anyone else been seeing any around the area?

I have not personally seen any, but I heard my first report of this bird over the weekend. Apparently, quite a few guys down that way have seen more then 1 over the past month or two.

The one that we saw was in Hickory and we were on our way to the Apple Festival. We talked to a guy that had a bird exhibit at the festival and we told him what it looked like and he said it was definitely a bald, and he said that there have been a lot of reports around of folks seeing them.

I have seen them on several occasions. One stayed around Jacobs Creek Park for several months and most recently I observed one eating a dead ground hog in a field near Scottdale.

I saw one while driving south on 79 a little ways north of the Kirby exit in Oct. of '03.  100% sure it was a baldie.  There have been reports of them on the Mon, haven't seen any though.  I believe I saw another one in the Smithton area ~5 years ago; cannot be sure about that one.

I've been seeing them around her lately.  There was a nesting pair up at Woodcock a few years ago right under the bridge, those were the first ones I've seen in Pa.  I also saw one at Shenango lake a couple years back and now I've seen one twice in Lawrence county just south of New Castle.  The first time it was in the spring in a plowed corn field eating something.  I took a couple pics with my cell phone but it is so far away you can't really see it.  I spotted it again a few weeks ago when it flew over my truck near the Beaver river just 2 or 3 miles away from where I saw it the first time.  Pretty cool to see them in Pa.

While fishing Cross Creek this past May had an eagle swoop down and glide past over the lake. That was way cool!! John

I saw one fly over the yough river and also saw one in Belle Vernon.  I have seen them almost every trip to the Allegheny... usually see several up there.  We saw one dive for a trout which was cool.  I heard they stopped using a chemical to spray the powerlines which was causing the eggs to become soft and that's why there are more of them now.  Actually saw one in west Virginia and on a recent trip to Ontario.  I won't get sick of them that's for sure. They are beautiful

a friend near Nineveh pa saw one on his farm, and another friend has one on video a few years back on wheeling creek right by his yard.  I saw one on my way up to the one fly at the Geneva swamp.  it was pretty awesome
