Tonight was brutal here..
Stiff wind, 32 degrees, blizzard for about an hour....
Sure made staying in the stand an adventure....
Saw no deer.

Yep, saw a 6 pt tonite, thank god. 1 deer in 5 trips.

A tree blew down 100 yards up from me. Scared the bejeebus out of me.

I got in my stand at 5:45. At 6:15 (it was halfway light) a flashlight came bobbing through the woods and the guy set up about 50 yards from me. That was a first for this location. I wasn't even sure what he was hunting. About 6:30 or so a flock of turkies flew down into the field beyond me. The guy didn't shoot. Around 8 he launched into (to my ears anyway)a very unrealistic rattling sequence. Then he grunted a few times. At one point, I made a few calls with the can, to which he grunted back. He gave up about 9:15 and I left a half hour or so later, when it started raining. Tried again in the evening for a couple hours at another stand. Didn't see a deer all day.

I saw daddy but daddy saw me!
3 doe walked within 8ft. of me while I sat behind a large root bulb from a hugh oak that fell over.
They snorted and ran a short distance and snorted more. Figured that was the end for sure. 15 minutes later a wide high rack started my way.
I knelt on one kne and was ready for him. The wind which was light shifted to him and the jig was up. Dang!

Morn:
Passed on a 120"er(8pt at 15 yards).  Only two years old.
Lost count of bucks chasing does.  I'm sure I probably saw the same young guys 2 and 3 times.

Eve:
Had a dandy at 100 yards.  2 other young bucks. 1bb and 2 doe.
Heard others chasing but didn't get a visual.

FWIW, I've really enjoyed reading all the updates on this particular thread. All 7 pages, even though opening morning was over a month ago now

Gave up bowhunting about 4 years ago just due to time constraints and family responsibilities. Sold my bow to a youngster just getting started and he's taken more deer with it already than I did in 16 years (he's winning 2 to 1).

Anyway, 'bout this time every year I get the itch to be in the woods with my bow. The daily updates of all your hours on stand are fun to read.

Thurs am. cold no deer
Thurs eve. windy gusting to 30 rain snow mix, one of the most miserable set of conditions I have stayed in a tree through.  Then at 5 pm it all stops and 15 min later here comes the grand daddy of them all, right down the fence line at me.  Unfortunatley he hit a hot doe trail and started wandering around for the next hour.

Fri morning,  awesome morning to hunt, went back in after him.  Could see by the frost that the deer had been moving under the bright moon  before I got there.  Had one button buck acting like a moron for almost an hour.  It was hard to keep from laughing aloud with him doing flips spinning 180 in mid air and running laps around the little valley I was in at full speed. No other deer.

Fri eve......Perfect night had little guys chasing does every where then a nice 8 came in hot on a doe and now lives in my freezer.

Sat morning.....Turkey Down!

Sat afternoon.....multiple miller lite's Down!

Great weekend.  I hope everyone else is enjoying thier season this much.

Other buddy dropped a nice 8 point 18" inside at 7am...
Bucks are on the move....

Saturday morn. Hunted a back up stand, a bit farther back in the woods, great idea. Saw 1 4pt early, and 3 doe. Wasn't too bad for me, considering this year has been awful so far. Saw 14 turkeys as well.

Came home, ate, napped, back into the woods.

As soon as I sat down in my stand, a Doe flickered in the Brush behind me. She then moved into an opening, and bedded down. Staring at my back. I started munchin on an apple, and sure enough, the turkeys from the morning multiplied. Now, there were 27. I counted them walking down a hill 100 yards from me. Like they owned the place. The circles around me all evening, and I ended up seeing 2 more doe.

At Dusk, the turkeys started to Roost. I've never seen this before, and could not stop laughing. They were like Bowling balls with wings, knocking branches over, trying to sit on branches that were too small for it. All of them, all 27. It was almost like they were drunk.

I laughed my way out of the woods. Was a good day to be out. I Enjoyed myself.

Moved the backup stand 150 yards down today, saw 2 doe. They Didn't see me. I figure the deer are staying in the thick brush, Because all the ones I've seen have come out of there. On my way out tonight, I spotted the biggest Rub I've ever seen. It's on a tree that's the thickness of a Coffee Can.

It's on like donkey kong tommorrow morning Beotch.

Friday night.....2 small bucks came in on my scent trail...1 was legal but only a 1.5 yr old 7 and wasn't gonna take him...If it's the last day, he may get arrowed...

Saturday Morning...Windy, but huntable...6 pt came in again and played in front of me for awhile then walked off...At 9:30, I see a Nice buck parallel with me 70 yds from me, wondering how I never seen him...He came from my right walking up a trail and continued on the trail, didn't want a grunt or bleat...He was a nice 8, I would have arrowed him, 2.5yr old from the looks of it...

Saturday night...Warm, still windy, lots of turkeys no deer.....

Got a lot of Bucks in at the deer shop in the last 3 days...Some necks are swollen, some aren't, some tarsals stink, some don't..????

Everyone (Including myself) that is coming in is saying they are seeing lots and lots of 1.5yr old bucks, small, but atleast they are there......Next year looks to be a good year already...As long as there are no mistake kills....

I can't ever remember hunting the second week of november "in the rut" with 60+ degree weather...it just doesn't feel right to me...

I saw a PILE of scrubbies this friday and saturday. Only 2 out of 13 different(I think) bucks I saw were legal. And they were both 1.5 yr olds. I will be hunting thurs-sat this week so hopefully I can find a decent one.

I was shocked that I actually saw that many deer considering all of the idiots I saw in my 2 days of hunting. People SUCK!!!

Found out how fast a squeaky tree stand can spook a deer.
Had a little 4 point come in to 12 yards and I wanted to hug the tree so he didn't pick me out.
When I moved my stand squeaked and that deer about crawled out of his skin...
Thank God it was not a shooter, got stand work to do tomorrow..mabee.
My son is kickin a 103 degree temp, sick kids put the king damper on dad's hunting time..

I saw a small buck that totally ignored my calls as he walked calmly out into a cut hayfield. I'm also getting to know certain squirrels on a first name basis.

I've killed one doe so far.I've also left 4 10 to 12 inch 8's go.I had a pin on one descent buck he came in at dark 6:43 to be exact before the time change. He had good tine lenght and excellent mass but it was a little to dark to put a brow tine on him so i left him walk at 4 yards. If your not sure if it's legal please leave them walk.

I shot a nice basket rack 7 point on Sat. I had passed on him 3 times earlier in the season, but it was time....with two little girls at home and limited time this week, I sealed the deal. Now I'm looking forward to OHIO.

Looking to seal the deal this week too.. Taking off this afternoon, tomorrow, thurs. Hoping something decent crosses my path. Have a trip to Vegas coming up that is in the middle of rifle so now is my best chance.

Been out several times, saw one small basket, probably a six and several does. Some days have been very quiet in the woods aside from a black squirrel. My father has seen (allegedly :P) a very nice buck twice now.. hoping he comes my wya!

7 doe and 2 bb this morning.
Had a bb bed 20 yards from the stand at 8:30am.  I scanned the area to be sure nothing else was around.  I stood up, grabbed the rattle bag, rattled for about 15 seconds and grunted and he laid there just watching.
After I put the bag away, he stood up and stretched.  Finally, while looking at me, he yawned and walked away.  So much for my rattling... lol.

Hunted Friday afternoon and had a young 8 or 9 come to about 25 yards and stop behind some brush. Never gave me a great shot when all he had to do was take about 5 more steps and I was letting an arrow fly. He walked around some more brush and kinda gave me a shot at 35 through some brush but I didn't feel comfortable with the shot and let him walk. I never found the buck I hit in archery last season so I'm making sure it's a slam dunk before shooting.

Saw a huge 8 point this morning driving to work along 79 before Saegertown. He was out in a field tending a doe... and big enough of a deer to get me to pull over to glass him for a few minutes. Wide, tall and thick. I think I'm taking Thrusday and Friday off to hunt.

I'll be out this week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. All day Sat if needed.

I'm hunting a fresh rub bonanza, on the corner of 3 prime bedding areas. Here's to hoping.

God luck guys!
