This morning was a fantastic hunt. While walking in, I came face to face with a small buck. He started walking at me so I started walking at him. We came to within 20 yards of each other before he realized he messed up.(It was dark) Got settled in, got out the rattle bag and after a 20 second cadence, here comes a spike. He goes to feeding on akerns. A few minutes later, I look in the direction he comes from and here comes a shooter! He skirts the area, downwind, and comes into the same area as the spike, where there were also 2 doe and a 2bb feeding. He checks one of the does, walks up to the spike and they start playfully sparring with each other! After a minute or so, he makes an aggressive lunge at the spike saying, "I'm not playing anymore!" The shooter walks off ignoring my every call. A young 5pt comes in from behind me, catches wind of the shooter and walks on the same path out of sight. Another spike feeds past and a couple doe popped out into the field to my right, grubbed some alfalfa, and ran away. A good looking 'yote comes trotting past at 80 yards. Great morning! Ironhed
