I don't know what it is about bears & cams, bings.  Some say bear have a sharper sense of smell than deer.  Gotta believe it after what evidence I found.

Hunted this morning. Got out of the stand at 9:30. Should i have stayed a little longer? Probably. Did I? No. Took a quick walk along the swamp edge to look for sign since I havent already and jumped a doe. She rana short ways and stopped. I froze behind a tree and after 10 mins. she started to walk around like nothing happend. As she approached the swamp she stopped and another deer came out. A good buck. 18 inch wide maybe. 8point for sure maybe had G4's couldnt tell. Came to 25 yards and made a scrape. To thick for a shot even at that distance. Was an awesome encounter tho.

Sounds Cool.

Moved my climber 300 yards to the top of a plateau where I've seen a ton of sign.

Hunted last night, saw 5 or so deer, all just after shooting light. One was a big boy.

Saw a lone buck about 40 yards from my ladder this morning. I couldn't put 4 points on either side. Nice to finally see one.

It happens sometimes bings.  I hunted over 175 hours last year before I saw a buck I wanted to shoot (and still hesistated).  It took until the last Friday in archery to see a legal buck !   And I identified a ton of shooters last year.  Yet, my buddy (and I pick the spots/areas for him), missed 4 (LOL) bucks.    Takes just one second to change yer season.

I hunted til 11am yesterday morning.  Did not see a deer.
Was on stand at 3pm and didn't see a deer until dark and here comes "The one" at dark.
I had him at 50 yards and I could only watch him walk on by while my knees were beating the crap out of each other.
He was the largest buck I have seen so far this year.

Ironhed, if you send me the dimensions, I will cut out and pad a custom fit anti-lower extremity buck fever device. A padded 2x4 with crecent shapes to fit between your knees. Unit comes equiped with quick detach bungee attachment system and is available in the following patterns.

Mossy oak (urine stain)
Realtree(holy crap brown)
Treebark(I actually crapped myself brown)

I think I just spit Mountain Dew through my nostrils!

Good one Musky!

It's really kicking my butt that I can't hunt tonight due to prior engagements, too...
I will not miss a day the rest of the season now.

This has not been a very good year thus far for myself. I missed a monster early afternoon the first day. And now I have not had a shooter buck or doe to give me a chance since. I HAVE THE MISSER'S JINX  There are a bunch of little bucks and should be great fro next year BUT it doesn't no good for this year LOL. Man I am praying  not to have to fill all my tags in GUN season. A buck is not a guaranty in guns season!!!!!!!!!!  The does on the other hand will be. Well hopefully.

Besides shooting a deer, drawing on deer and settling the pin on the spot is a great confidence booster.  Will help with the "shakes" too.  Some people can't do it, for fear of panic they will end up letting the arrow fly << and those of the folks that NEED to do it.

Went out last night and got soaked. Jumped 2 deer on the way out. My buddy yelled at me to go out this morning, I said no way(didn't feel like getting wet again). He went this morning, got soaked. We are both going out tonight but not till after 1. Said he's miserable and wants to take a nap. Still don't understand why there is ZERO activity down here(Central Pa.). Guys up North are seeing bucks chasing does and grunting them in!! Oh and I am heading up North tonight.   Good luck guys!!

I hear ya silver. But didn't have the shakes just had the pin a little to high it was a very down  angle.  Was hunting the nose bleed stand LOL  A couple years ago had a big doe come in and I could not keep the pin on the spot let down the draw the doe wasn't very smart and just stood there. Well that was her last mistake drew again and she went oh about ten yards and expired. For getting the is not very often for myself but once in a while. Thats is what is about the excitement and controlling it.

I got the big skunko last 2 trips out not even a doe..
Other than the stupid doe that tried to commit suicide on the way home.I swear there should be hair on my bumper..

Might have to do some scouting today, last night I saw a Fox squirrel go by my stand with half an ear of corn.
There isn't a corn field within a 1/4 mile of my stand.

Either that is one traveling sqirrel or someone is trying to booste their opportunities..Hope not...

Highlight of the week.. had a bobcat at 10 yards the other night.. about 20-25 pounds maybe.   One deer sighting this week.  Wind was wrong two of the nights.   Finally got the wind right to hunt where I think my old "buddy" pushed the big boy.  Wind switched once I was set up.  Had a few deep grunts at dark headed my way.. never saw him, musta caught my wind.  Need to get done with these low pressure systems and get back to our prevailing north west wind stuff.  South east crap swirls badly here.  I'm confident the weather is gonna be good for the upcoming two weeks!! (And I'm usually not).

Went for a walk Wednesday night.. got back to the truck before dark so I went for a ride.  Saw a 6 point, bleated at him.  I started driving and he starts running parallel with me.  I stopped then he stopped.  Bleated again, and the cycle continued a few more times.   Little fellas gettin' stupid.

We are approaching 6 inches of rain for the month of the October.  4th most in a century.  The average is 2.6 here.   That's yer SE wind for ya.  Hope it never happens again !   Calling for SE tonight too... buddy text me and said it's swirling bad.  I got a lot of good spots for a SE wind, if it'd quit whirling !!

I'm with ya Kype and MM.
These SW winds are driving us nuts!  Most of the farm is set up for W/NW winds and the terrain won't allow only but a few stands to be hunted with E/ESE winds.  Sucks.

MM,
No branch issues this morning...

I was thinking about the how the wind is always SE it seems. A couple places I hunt you can't hunt with SE wind. But on the other hand I must have the PLAGUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Can not get a shot on a shooter weather buck or doe for some reason other. Like I said I had one chance on a great 8 and MISSED. Hunted last night in the climber and the wind was perfect NOT A DEER TO be seen. But you look at the trails and droppings, scrapes, rubs. I count one hand how many times i have not seen a deer out of this spot in the fifteen years of hunting. I mean I may not always have a shoot but still seen them. My old lady says I KILLED them all LOL
