This was a small mouth weekend to be sure. Fished the Connoquenessing Creek yesterday and caught 36 small mouth bass. The biggest being only 13". I put in at Wardenburg on the other side of Ellport, and took out at the Rocky Point boat club. I took my Big game ocean kayak, sit on top. I had the depth finder with me and marked some deep holes, the biggest being 15+'. At the water treatment in Ellport. Caught 10 smallmouth there alone. This trip was great and took about 4+ hours the fishing was great. The lures I used were: Rebel Crayfish, pumpkin seed tube jigs, and Mep Agalia spinners, The kitchen sink was thrown in also but these were the best producers. Between the two bridges at the end of the park produced well but if you cast behind a rock, just right, then you got a hit. This creek is loaded with fish. The best part of this trip was below the sewer treatment plant. That's where the rapids get in the Class II-III+, I never went all the way down before and on a sit-on -top kayak it was a RUSH. There are sweet pools between the rapids that are a few 100' long and 12"+ deep Very beautiful through this section. I bet it would be great for Musky. Great trip for anyone who wants to give it a try. If you want to avoid the rapids take out at the Ellwood sewer plant on Wampum river road. I would not try this lower section in a canoe and was  VERY  nervous in a kayak but there was no going back when I realized what I got into. I actually put on my life jacket, i was glad I brought. Great fishing, beautiful scenery, helpful fisherman on the way, and some unexpected excitement with the rapids (VERY REAL). Give it a try.

Awesome trip.  I've only ever fished the point where the SR flows in.  I believe that's where you put in at.  I've heard that there is some nice rapids down there, but I only know enough to get myself killed when it comes to that.  Next time you go you'll have to take some pics for those of us that don't have the guts to go ourselves, haha.

I'm surprised you didn't get into any muskies.  Lots of them in there.

I wish I would have taken pics. also.  It was a rush and a well deserved guy day. Wouldn't mind making it a two day deal and setting up in one of those big holes and do some night fishing.

I'd say about 8 miles from wardenburg.  I had my gps but left it at my parents and did not get to record the trip.  Another good trip is to put in at The bridge off route 18 going toward Mt Jackson and float the Mohoning/Beaver river to wampum.  That a nice safe trip with a ton of great fishing.  Really do well there for smallies and have caught a few eyes on the  way.  In that river you could catch anything.   Cat's on worms are a garentee anywhere on that strech.  They'll pull your yak, there so big.  It's long all the way to wampum.  There is a bridge going to west pittsburgh you could take out a,t after the electric plant, but I always do the whole thing.  That one is a FULL day because the water moves slow.  If you do it there are low spots so watch your fins at the bottom cause I got hung up a few times, and the creek was a little higher then usual.  Your yak is as big as mine but you got the fins.  The water came way over the front of the yak I got soaked big time.  Check the water level before you go., here is a link and if you do it drop me a line, if ya make it, and tell me how it was.
