ORIGINAL: MeTaLaNgLeR Not too familiar with McKeesport. I try to stay away from there. If you go into Elizabeth there are a couplespots to choose from. If you were to go to the boat ramp there is about 30 yards of open bank you can set a chair one. There is also the concrete pad behind the bingo hall. However, that is usually packed like Boston. Underneath the Sutersville bridge isn't bad either, but the hike under the bridge is somewhat steep. Hope you find something for the kids, I don't explore bank fishing too much. Poison ivy tears me up big time. Also, not sure from which direction you are coming but a nice place to go is Indian Lake in North Huntington. They stock it with trout, I have seen bass bluegill and carp in there. The goose sh!t there is off the hook! I work in N. Huntingdon and drive by Indian Lake every day. I stopped going there because of the **** geese. You can't find 2 square inches within 30' of that lake that isn't polluted by those crap machines. They obviously need to open the hunting of geese to more people and for longer periods of time there. To the OP, if you do try IL, stay to the end that has the rocks by the covered bridge. The rest of the "lake" is super shallow, like 2' max. The rocky end is the deepest. But, yeah, there are monster carp in there if that's your thing. I'm not sure where your coming from either, but if you are talking 1/2 an hour from Boston Bridge, you just opened up the Yough in Smithton, West Newton and possibly Cedar Creek Park. Lots of shore options in this area and even a few small lakes.
