Hello to all.......

I am relatively new to this site. I am an avid angler with years of experience. I am retired from the workforce (60), so I am fishing as often as possible. I primarily fish for bass, walleye, and crappie. I’d like to fish for pike & muskies as well. I live near the Pgh. Airport, but I get out to Lake Erie, Arthur, Pymatuning, Wilhelm, Cross Creek, and I try to get out to the Yough. I belong to a bass club. We have tournaments 1-3 times per month.

My problem?? No boat, and the rates they charge to rent them are outrageous! It gets frustrating having to fish from shore all week long, because my buddies who own boats are still working stiffs. I had planned to buy a nice one, but I put my daughter through medical school, instead.

So, all you lucky guys who are out on your boats - If you’d like a co-angler to fish with and have an empty bass seat on your boat, please keep me in mind. I’m a nice guy, I have all my own gear, I don’t run with scissors, and I go out to fish. Who knows? We might score some big poundage together.

Thanks for reading, and good fishing to all of you!

I feel your pain...well, some of it.  I have a long way to go until retirement and enjoying unlimited free time.

I grew up in Ohio fishing lakes there with tons of friends with boats or access to dirt cheap row boat/canoe rentals.  I kind of gave up fishing here for years because, yeah, fishing from the shore sucks with exception of finding a good farm pond to get bass and those are getting hard to find.

I recently started wading the rivers and streams.  Look into it, it's addicting!  At least until you get hooked up with a boat buddy.

I fish the shore most of the time too and feel your pain. I can't say its frustrating because i still do alright.  I'm still far off from retirement, but I also would love to have a nice boat.  Because of money and something to pull it with I can't (right now anyway).  So I did the next best thing, I bought a fishing kayak, it allows me to get to some hard to reach places, it has rod holders, and places to keep stuff.  Sure its not as big as another boat but I can carry it myself (60 lbs) and it gets me out on the water, also it fits right on top of the car.

If you think that would be to small, or not steady enough look around for some used john boats or canoes.  You can find some really good boats for a few hundred dollars, even boats that you could put a motor on.  I had a canoe I mounted a trolling motor on, it worked great.  And that same canoe I gave away for free on this site, it still floated and was completely usuable, I just knew if I didn't give it away it would sit there not get used and get to the unusable point since I had my kayak that was much easier for one person to handle.

That's what I was thinking.  Or become a greeter at Walmart for a month and buy a 14 footer.w_w.
