Don't mean to Preach,or sound Holier than thou,but how much effort does it take to pick up some trash instead of ****ing about it,then leaving it lay? I do admit to being compulsive about litter since my Boyscout days when we were taught to leave a place better than we found it. This past Sunday eve. we went to Greenlick to throw sticks & jigs. decieded to fish the area around the new boat ramp. When we pulled in I noticed that someone left a small plastic water bottle on the tie off dock. while we were fishing at least 5 boats & 3 yaks came off the lake. Everyone of them stepped over that **** bottle instead of picking it up. After we were done fishing I walked over & picked it up & placed it in my bucket with the other items I already picked up.My thoughts are that the people that stepped over it were worst than the one that left it there in the first place.This is such a pretty lake,it kills me to see the way some people trash it.   sam

I agree.

Now, there are some bits of litter that I will pass up, mostly for health reasons (I'm not touching a used band-aid, old food products, etc.), but something like a water bottle is pretty easy to grab and chuck in the next trash can.

It really aggrivated me last summer, when I went to fish a privately owned pond (as far as I know, I'm the only one with permission to fish it that actually does), and there was a pile, literally, of beer bottles, empty chip bags, worm containers, and plastic wal-mart bags. Its like, come on guys, you're already trespassing and fishing illegally, and you have bags for garbage with you.[:@]

There are a few ppl that pick up. I know I do around dashields dam. There is a blue 55 gal drum located right at the parking lot. It doesn't take much effort to grab your old leader packages, worm containers, iced tea containers...etc, and take em back up the hill with you. Ppl are just slobs and take for granted what is given to you. No wonder why ppl **** about their propeerty in other places. Elk and walnut creek for example. No wonder evrything is posted.

I feel your pain, I used to remove two 55 gallon trash bags from emsworth dam a few times a week.  It becomes very dishearting when each time you return there is more trash than last time.

On the positive side, there are a group of guys down @ the glenfield boat ramp that make an effort every day to keep the area clean.  Too bad they probally won't see this post.

BTW  - I did assit and thank them personally

I'm with you guys.
Floating along a nice lake beautiful water, next thing you know theres an old Pepsi bottle floating in the water,
a Reese's packet on the bank. It's a shame,
Just a couple things I picked up last time out at the Power Dam

spoonchucker -> RE: frustrating,but not surprising (7/15/2009 3:30:16 PM)

Important note:

The yellow liquid, in those Pepsi bottles, is NOT Mt Dew.

So thats why no one else cares to pick it up.

BTW, Those white or pink plastic things that you find floating ARE NOT lost floating top water lures. My buddy is still ****ing after finding one that I put in his tackle box.  lol  sam

Its pretty sad, but I think a couple things I'll need to put on my checklist will be a garbage bag, and(Thanks to Spoonchucker)a set of rubber gloves.  [image]http://forums.fishusa.com/micons/m15.gif[/image]
