Went out to give err a go this morning. SomebodS had other plans so I Decided to fly solo today.

(Hope you got some fish Slick).

It was said to be a nice morning so I made it out and boy oh boy was it a nice morning. Chilly to start out at 6:00am but warmed up nicely. Lake was dam near flat for 4 hours. Just enough , "what I call a walleye chop" , to make things perfect. Water temps were 70 degrees.

All I needed to do now was to find some walleyes. For awhile I thought I was out for some "boating" (code word for skunked). But I got one today so now Im a happy fisherman. Could have used a net man !!  I fumbled the rod and net once and thought i was going to lose lunch , but she stayed hitched to them hooks and I got her in da boat.

The fish was a nice 24 incher

Im sure a few more weeks and things will be good for a few good meat runs.

Good luck everyone for this years walleye season and be safe.

Before  and after pics.

You're making me hungry.  Was out on my brother's boat the other day.  He didn't want to go out to the mountain where the east side walleye seem to be, so we went for smallies instead and had a blast.  There was a kid on the boat who had never fished before.  His first hook up was with what had to be an 8 or even 9 lb smallmouth.  We thought it was a channel cat at first.  Surfaced twice then broke him off.  Would have been a hell of a first catch.  Certainly better than the sheephead that eventually popped his cherry.

Yeah, I usually rip out a gill and hang them over the side of the boat for 10 minutes.

PS, dont let them get caught in the kicker ...

We were out today, too! Kind of slow, but we managed to net 3. Lost a couple, too!
It was nice out there until the wind stoped.

Have they moved back in closer or are they still out in the 50ft range?
