photojim,

It is a method of baiting a hook without putting the bait on the hook... if that makes sense.
Just do a internet search on how to tie a hair rig for carp a few pictures will be worth a thousand words. Then look up bolt rig  which combines the hair rig with a heavy sinker...the fish hook themselves in the mouth rarely will you miss a bite with this set up

For those interested, us local carpers will be doing our 8th. annual Wilhelm carp outing this coming weekend,        Nov. 7-8.  A little bit later than our usual Oct. timing for our get-together, but should be interesting to see how well the carp will be rippin'.

I'm game.

A few ??'s

Is it the 7th or 8th...or both?
Also, where you planning to have it?
Would we all meet somewhere & then disperse around the lake to our spots or are we fishin' the same general area?
Is it just a meet & greet, or a competition?
-singles or teams?
-boat or shore?
Do you need us to bring anything besides our fishing stuff/bait? (food, drink??)

Lookin' forward to it.

Both.
Ya can fish wherever ya choose, but we will have a central location or two ,most likely.
We'll probably do as we've done in the past.
Just a get-together, but we could do an optional competition depending on what those that attend want to do
Shore.
Just your fishing stuff is fine.
More info. from the last event there:

The weather is lookin' to be pretty nice for the weekend----too nice actually for this time of year.

There should still be some guys there Sun., fishing thru Sun. morning at least.  After fishing all day Sat. and then all night, by the time Sun. morning rolls around some of us will be beat, especially if the fish are rippin'.

Tell me about it, us carpers just ain't right, but I've known that for years.
Some of these guys are hardcore and I'm sure ya'll see some stuff ya've never seen before as far as carp bank angling goes.  We have all sorts of implements of destruction and assorted gadgets, trust me.

One of the best is when I spod some bait out when someone is in the area.  They say what the ?@#$% was that?  I tell them its chumming cause not to many people know what spodding is.

I hardly ever use my spods any more.  That's old school and too much dang work with all that casting and reeling.  The wacker blaster (bait sling) is the way to bait.  Then there is the chumzooka I've used in the past.  Pic below was taken at Wilhelm years ago.  Now that thing would get people's attention.  Talk about force feedin' 'em.

I got a spudwitzer with a 12' barrel that launches potatos with enough force to shatter plyboard @ 65 yards  Have to wheel it around though...

But that's an Anti-Watercraft Weapon....

It's made primarily for baitballs baseball-size(or smaller) and ya can wack 'em out there 100+ yards easy.  Corn and other particles------it pretty much scatters 'em, but not as far as baitballs.  Ya can't pinpoint an area like ya can with a spod a far as particles go, but I'll just mix the particles in my bait balls and blast those out.  The blaster only goes out about 10-15 yds. usually after casting, so not much reeling like with a spod.  It works pretty good with boilies and range cubes too.
Yea I'll be blasting 'em dis weekend.  Not to mention all our other baiting implements.  The carp will feed well this dis weekend-----trust me.  I'll be leaving later.  See yinz at the lake.

I guessed I missed ya, as I stopped by the beach Sat. evening for awhile to bs, but headed back over to the old launch across the lake where a couple of us fished the weekend.  The real tackle tart of the bunch was over at the launch.

Small duud.
Nice Pixburgh stillhead-----biggest of da weekend, maybe the whole year as well.
That carp looks like it has eyelashes----must be a little leaf on it's eye.
Did yinz guys @ da beach do any good the rest of Sun.?
Thanks to all who showed up----we had 16 total show up to fish/check things out.  Slow fishing for the most part, but a few nice ones, including a 20, 21lb., and the above 24lber.  Nice Nov. weather.  Tim got the most with 19.5 carp total and I ended up with 5.5 carp thru Mon. afternoon. Sean and Al both had 3 a piece I think.  So, 31 or so carp in total caught.   Still, not bad for Nov. carpin'.
Thanks again to all who attended!

Sun about 1:30 hooked into a 20 plus but as soon as I reached for the net spit the hook.  And that was it.  Slow as I ever seen there.  Still had fun and it was cool to see the gear.  I felt like a turd in a swimming pool with my little ugly sticks.
