Mr.Slickfish -> 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 12:50:55 PM)

Today Erie received more than 7" of rain, causing widespread flooding....and it's still comin' down....violently. Many surface streets are flooded out as well as parts of I90. Don't know if it matters to any of yinz, as it aint steel season. But the creeks and the city are BLOWN OUT!

Be careful...it's comin fast and sweepin vehicles down the street.

Stillhead -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 1:01:58 PM)

I just talked to a friend on the phone, he was down at walnut a little while ago and said the water was hitting the bottom of Manchester bridge and splashing over it, that's unreal.

pxatim -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 1:04:03 PM)

wow... that's insane. If anyone gets a chance post some pics... but be careful out there if you have to go out.

harrypelles -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 1:28:51 PM)

Wow. Thanks for the report.

Anyone get pics of the waters, post some?

I have a new sense of pride, and sackfull of confidence. And no more limpline.

For the moment the rain has eased up.

Unfortunately I can't get away for pics....I got leaky roofs to deal with.

Trap Jaw -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 3:26:06 PM)

Just got home from my parrents house...  HOLY CRAP!!!  Went down to look at Walnut, I can tell you that I won't be the first person to try and launch once it comes down.  You could see every high spot that was left after they dredged since there was a 5 foot plus upwell roughly where each one was.  This will either clean out the channel or block it up something fierce.  The water was only about a foot below any of the concrete.  For a reference, all the docks are now floating higher then the concrete.  I wish I had taken my camera with me 'cause I've never seen it that high.  My mother did get some pic's around thier house I'll post those when she e-mails them to me.  They had a moat around thier house for a few hours.

Dude, now that's funny!

Stillhead -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 5:05:51 PM)

Wonder how all that water running in will effect the walleye fishing (I know, I know, there are surely bigger worries for the residents in Erie right now, just sayin').   I remember going out for steelies after the hurricane rains a few years back and the mudline was way out, I mean way out there. Can't remember for sure but I believe it went out to at least 30 feet of water. It sounds like there is even more water now.

BIGSLICK -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 5:22:57 PM)

I stopped at Walnut and got some pics on my way home from work....

ErieRuss -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 5:51:44 PM)

Just checked out the east side streams. Worst I've seen them in years. Main problem is all the stuff going into the lake. My pictures are on my cell and don't do it justice. Be carefull out there, there are actually trees going down the creeks into the lake.

KJH807 -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 5:55:43 PM)

that manchester hole shot is insane!

Sorry guys, I forgot one....

This is Walnut heading down towards the access area.

[image]http://i679.photobucket.com/albums/vv153/thannah84/IMG_0493.jpg[/image]

Trap Jaw -> RE: 7 inches and counting (6/30/2009 7:09:58 PM)

Well, at least someone doesn't leave their camera 20 miles away when they need pic's, Slick.  Did you guys notice the one pic of the lake?  You know there is a lot of water flowing when it can negate 3-4 foot waves.  BTW, I think it went down a bit since I was there.

Did anyone hear anything on the news tonight?  When I went down there were USCG personel posted on every bridge that went over walnut.  Thought maybe someone went in.  Probably more like they were waiting to see if anyone was stupid enough to attempt it kyaking.  If you're into that, would have made one hell of a ride.

Here you go...  http://yourerie.com/content/video/?cid=67261
