Hit it last night till 1:00. Hooked 4 Stripers and landed three. Was wading the shoreline and saw a lure floating. Waded out and picked it up. It was a fire-tiger perch colored crankbait, and tied below that was a natural colored plastic worm. Someone's secret weapon...

There are TONS of good spots. Stripers are eating machines. They cruise around in schools.

Was that you in the Giant Eagle parking lot in Seven Fields?

We had a decent evening on the water.  Couple bass, one small striper, couple BIG catfish, couple crappie, a few perch.  All fish caught on shiners.

Nice feeshes young Timmy.... I fished last night also. Caught a 22" inch largemouth, which I thought was a Striper and some nice Crappies, including a 14 1/2 incher, which currenty resides in my freezer with his buddies.....

I caught my first ever keeper wiper on the roadbed.  Once it gets grown in, it's hard to keep them from running you into the weeds though.  I've also caught a good bit of panfish and largemouth there too.  I'm sure there is just about anything in those weeds.  There is a ton of bait around there, but gets more and more unfishable as the warmer weather rolls on.

was out the other night from 9pm till 230am. Seemed like we would be skunked and decided to relocate. Caught several LMB using a baby minus. none bigger than 15 inches. Was a nice night to be out though. My buddy hooked into a bigger fish but lost him. We like to think it was a striper but who knows? That was the biggest excitement of the night unless u count the coon fight we heard. Those things can scrap.

I'd definitely count the coon fight, as long as it wasn't too close...

If his drag got a nice workout, chances are it was a wiper.  They have been known to be hungry at this time of the year.  If you heard their rather distinctive kerplunking of bait fish around you, then they were likely around.  There's not a much better sound than a wiper kerplunk...  Maybe that same kerplunk with the added rattle of your plug being engulfed!

Hopefully be hearing some of that same great noise at some point this weekend.

I think I know where you were fishing by the coon fight statement.....I hear them all the time when I'm wading there...It can be unnerving if your'e not expecting it..I'm thinking of heading to Moraine to-night....anyone else?

Agreed.  Actually the absolute best sound is a wiper crushing a rattlin' surface lure, that is attached to a rear drag shimano Spirex reel, their drags are obnoxious sounding.  I'd like to record that sound and make it my ring tone.

The worst feeling, hearing all of that, then having your knot come undone...

I had my personal worst night on Friday.  I'd much rather have no action than have two get off, due to horrible knots.  One, snaping the line at my teaser knot, taking my lure.  The other, just a slip of a clinch knot.  I grew up with that knot, but am slowly phasing it out of my hook tying arsenal.

I missed 5 other strikes, 3 I'm pretty sure were striking the teaser,  huge splash with a momentary take and spit.  2 others were on alewives that tried to mate with my lure and ended up on a bare hook.  I'm usually pretty good at strike : land ratio too.

I think that I'm done with the teaser thing.  They look irresitable in the water, but the single hook doesn't seem to be very reliable on surface strikes.  Anyone else use these?  They are pretty big with the salt water guys, and I have done rather well with them in the salt water.  Although, mostly tied in front of swim shad and other non-surface running lures.  I might have to tie up some on a treble hook instead?

Coon taste like the dark meat ov turkey. Seems for 'em to take about 15 min. to kill their prey of bigger fowl, very slow errie way to go. Timmy got into a battle in a Arthur swamp with a jumbo early this year. The thing kept comming after him so he ended up fighting it with a fallen tree branch. I'll see if he will post the critter later. There has been a yote hanging around the 528 launch for over 2 weeks now.

Whoever wanted to show up for the get together on the 20th we would prob. eat 5:30 - 6'ish. Have parking for a doz. boats or so. Pm me if anyone needed dir. A head count would be good to start so I know how much road kill to pick up by then.

Headin' out in boots around 11:00 tonight.

Crappy

I'd love to come, Chris, but I'm heading up to the boundary waters on the 19th for a little over a week.  Haven't seen ya in a while.  We'll have to get out on the boat again soon.

Not too good last night. Stayed till 3:30...only a few largemouths....very few Stripers jumping....don't know if it was cause of the full moon, or if the bite's winding down early this year.
