Congrats Mick Fish!

Hopefully you can catch some this time.  You'll probably be pressed for time for a while.

I'm hoping to sneak out at some point myself.  I got the old skunko the last two times there, followed by a skunko at North Park for an hour or so.  I'm due for a good day soon...

This just doesn't have that worn-in comfortable feel the other one did. (c:

Thanks for the Congrats Porktown and Steelys! I have never been so proud!  I actually chose to leave the lake a little before dark tonight, which is not like me at all, cause I just couldn't wait to see em again!!!

Didn't launch until 4:30pm.  Fishing was a little slow, but as my luck goes this week, I got a solid 15'' SLAB!!!  3 other 8-9'' throw backs and a little bass.  Saw some other guys with a cooler full of some 7'' fish...which I just don't understand.  Surface temp was 45f and all fish came in 3-5 fow.

How did things go for you this morning Steelys???

I finally had a day of catching, instead of fishing!  It started out slow, but picked up after moving about 50 yards (fished the shore).  I ended up with a 12" largemouth, 18" pike and a bunch of panfish.  One of which was a pretty thick perch.  I had about a half hour of multiple strikes on every cast.  I was mixing up fishing a heavy setup for pike and a small setup for panfish.  All fish were caught on the small set up.  The pike actually ate my bobber, and was able to land it with the line caught in it's mouth plates, never hooked...  The largemouth actually took a swipe at my bobber before hitting my jig too...  I'm sure if I would have fished the spot that I found right off the bat, and focused only on panfish, I'd have had a field day.  I ended up landing about 20 fish, mostly bluegills, mostly thick ones too.  Had a 8-9" crappie too.  Also heard one of the loudest splashes ever from a fish.  This thing made the wiper kerplunks, sound like alwives flopping around!

That was the third time that I've had that happen to me, all at Arthur.  I didn't land the other two.  One about 3 years ago, and the other about 10 years ago.  I've had a few other times were smaller fish have hit my bobber (trout love glow yarn indicators...), but these were all fish that engulfed the thing and took some drag.

Hey Mick Fish. glad u had a better day. I was skunked. fished from 8am till 3pm. did a lot of walking but couldnt locate any fish.  I may have seen that guy also. I tried to talk with him but he didnt want to be bothered so off I went. I cant believe how much trash is already being left around. what a shame. I keep forgetting to bring a garbage bag.

Just a heads up for you shore fisherman.  I fished for three hours this evening and pulled off three small ticks when I got home.  Those are the first ones I've ever seen below rt 80 and I spend a LOT of time in the woods.  I hope it was just a fluke and that I don't have to bathe in OFF everytime I go in the woods.  I hate those friggen crawly things.  Everytime I see one, I get itchy all over for the rest of the day.

Speaking of a heads up, if y'all remember the post I made last year with pictures of the bear that's been making a mess for people around the 422 x 528 interchange (I posted pictures but can't find the post in the archives) that same friend warned me the other day when she found out I was coming up there that the last time she and her neighbors saw the bear it was limping, missing patches of hair and had become so aggressive that she and others have called the wardens repeatedly to report it.

Her guess is that it may have been hit by a car and injured.

luvin,

Just save some of the "dink" gills to toss, he'll be your new "fishin" buddy. The water, and the bite are starting to warm up a bit.

So I hear.

There seems to be alot more nice Perch being caught, than I recall over previous years. It also seem to follow Rippin"s pattern. In that it's spread out over a number of anglers, in a number of spots. No big catch, in a single area.

I think that each time out this year fishing for crappies we have brought home atleast 1 nice (11" or 12") perch. But like was said can't get them in numbers.

rippinlip, you hit the nail right on the head.  I live right down the road and have been fishing that lake for years.  We ice fished the creek channel smack dab in the middle of the lake.  With our aqua vu we watched the perch cruise all around, but still only caught 1 about every 15 minutes.

Saw photos of the nice bass caught during the KBBC tournament held the beginning of the month. Inspired me to get out there over the weekend. Nothing to brag about. I wonder where the caught those lunkers? What were they using?
