Had a guy wade right in front of me while waiting fro fishin time first day of trout a few years back. I had my chest waders but knew therer werer a ton of fish close in front of me and was gonna wait to get in. This jerk jumped right in front of me and sloshed through the hole at 5 mins before 8 am. When I yelled at him, he flipped me the bird and kept going. I promptly pegged him with a nice sized rock( baseball size) right between the shoulder blades and invited him back across to talk about it.. He took off, and never looked back. Granted you were outnumbered, but sometmes all a jerk needs is a lesson in manners. I imagine the guy I ran into thought about it long and hard before he did something like that again.

then he pulls out a gun and shoots you.  really smart move, imho.  yeah, if he's the kind that doesn't take too long to think, he's going to bring a gun along so that next time some a-hole throws a rock at him....

but, let me guess, you're also packing too.  so you're not worried.  how about you have the gun to protect you, not to back up your stupid actions.

violence on the streams does absolutely *nothing* but get people in trouble.  with the problems that we as fisherman are facing today with access restricted/private property/etc - we need to educate each other on rules and regs, etiquite, and common decency rather than chuck rocks and start fights.

I was out last Thursday after work for a bit on 20 and at about 6pm, there was a kid that hooked up to fish about 30 yards in from the lake and decided to run up and down the bank trying to real the thing in.  He ducked under on guy's line and I had to get out of the water so I wasn't decapitated by his line.  What an idiot.  Pissed me off.  I just gave him the stink eye and watched the carnival go on.

I almost said something, but I just let it alone.  Besides, I might have been hacky sacked to death.

Come on we all can remember when we started fishing. I'm sure some had a good teacher and some learned on there own. Did you talk to him after his epic fight? I am guilty as the next guy for felling some type of aggression to that person who dosn't think about what they are doing with a fish on. Without anything being said they will continue to do the same thing and maybe run into someone that won't be forgiving at all.  Unfortunate is all it is.

It was a kid.  As frustrarting as is wasto you maybe he had no idea what he was doing.  Maybe he was excited.  Could of been his first steelie.  Offer advice next time.  Now I was not there so I can only go by what you stated.  Now is he was just a a$$ thats a shame.

Sounds like me and the first steelie I hooked into. I didn't know any better. At least I was no where close to another person. Don't be afraid to help maybe he didn't know any better, instead of getting up in arms over having to move for a second.

Yeah, you guys are right.  Next time I'll give some constructive criticism.  He wasn't the only person to do it that day at the creek as there were two instances.  Oh well, at least someone was catching them that day.

I remember a few years back at Walnut when an idiot went into the middle of the creek in front of about 10 guys to net a fish for his buddie spooking a nice pod of fish we were trying to catch.  When one of the guys told him to please not do that, he threatened to punch him out.  I have no doubt that he would have too from the way he looked.  Lots of jagoffs out there.
