Of course, but we will never know because of oldPa.

The Panthers started out slow, but looked great last night.

The Lions have been kicking all kinds of butt this year, so even I don't really think Pitt is on PSU's level yet.

I'd love to see them match up, as the Panthers seem to play to their opponent.  Would be a much better final game of each season than what either is likely going to get in a bowl game.  I am hoping for a PSU undefeated season, and see them in the BCS.  I highly doubt they can keep this up, but am actaully rooting for them.  I don't think there is any possible way to get them in the same bowl game?  If so, they'd likely need to each drop 3-4 games, and battle it out in the Loew's Theatre Bathroom Stall "Call Me for a Good Time" Bowl.

Let's go Pens!!!!  Sorry, ready for tomorrow!!!

not a pitt nor a penn state fan (osu and nd) but all football is good, way better than politics.  when i was younger, i always had a small radio to listen to football while fall fishing or duck hunting.  you pa guys have a lot of good football in your backyard.

I'm a Penn State follower.  The thing that really makes me wonder is how PSU can be having a great year 6-0 and all they get is faint praise and someplace like Auburn or Arkansas or Usc can be 4-2 and everyone is raving about their fantastic chances.  It's almost like PSU is the stepchild of the BCS.  Always has been always will be.  Look at KY this year 1 loss and not even mentioned in any poll.

Penn State is the 6th ranked team in the country, they get plenty of press.......... and if they go undefeated with wins over wisconsin and ohio state, better be in the national championship.  and in my personal opinion, this year's penn state team would dumptruck this year's pitt squad

Hardcore Pitt fan, with the requisite loathing of PSU and WVU and I gotta say PSU would have to come away from that matchup with another W.  Still, the reason you hear more about USC is 1) the enormous hype they generate no matter what they do and 2) who has PSU really played?  They're untested, more or less...compared to USC and OSU, who've tangled with other big names.

Then there's Rutgers...losing to Morgan State...

thats why they dont play Pitt. they dont need anymore practice games that arent going to benefit them. while it would be a great Pennsylvania game, it wouldnt help their cause for a national title.

Penn State not only won its 1st 4 games not by a little not by alot they crushed their opponets, and not with just their 1st and 2nd string in they were scoring with their 3rd sting and  freshman. If clark plays those games completely through like all the people mentioned for the heisman then hes the front runner. Penn state beat a great illionis team as long as they get by michigan then its as equal to an undfeated season. I feel psu just might have that edge to get into a nation championship game.... so be it that the last week of the season doesnt hurt them  since the big 10 is off while every other team plays for confrence championships..... alot of undfeateds gone down in those confrence games.

I've read where the real reason Penn State won't play Pitt is because Joe Pa thinks that Penn State should receive substantially more of the revenue generated than Pitt.  He states that Penn State needs more money to substain all of their minor (non-revenue generating) sports.  Time to get out of the way Joe IMO!

joe-pa needs to win.  i saw the salaries the big ten paid their coaches.  joe-pa is getting screwed.  maybe if they win a title, psu will pay up.

Joe is very content with what he is paid.  He is probably the most unassuming coach in the Big Ten and maybe in all of college football.  If you ever meet the man you will know how dedicated he is not only to football but to all sports at Penn State.   Plus Joe is revered all over campus.

as with anything football related, youre probably right. those were my words and i could be wrong, but i dont see blowing Pitt out of the sky helping PSU's bid for a championship. if more $$$ for PSU is the reason, I'm not sure JoePa is wrong. jmo but the nation could probably care less about watching Pitt unless a big name opponent is attached to them.

could be wrong but i believe hes been donating a ton of his salary back to PSU for many years. if $$$ was the issue for his being there he'd have been paid what he wanted or left years ago.

I think Joe is in it more for the love of the game than the bucks. On a lot of these other threads guys have been saying we should live within our means. Well IMO, Joe is a good example of that. He's living comfortable and doesn't want or need any more. He'll be what...84 this December??? I should be so lucky to be that well at that age.....if I make it that long.

I think if you would actually check penn states bowl winning percentage you can't say they always lose. I beleive their winning % is quite good in bowl games.

Penn state offered a 2 for 1 deal and Pitt refused. 2 games at PSU for every 1  at Pitt. Psu generates Millions of dollars every home game so they need as many non-conference home games as possible. It costs alot of $$ to run a program like that and 110,000 tickets generates a few bucks. And Pitt cannot sell season tickets when they are 70$ for 7 games. It really is a shame that Pitt alumni dont support the program and team better.

Paterno wants the best for his team, is often accused of being underpaid, and is 35-9 with 3 bowl wins in 3 attempts since kickoff 2005 and heading for a fouth straight.  Will somebody please get this guy out of here!  The game has passed him up.  I wonder who would replace him?  Hopefully someone good.  By the way, PSU was ranked #6 in the country and may move into the top 5 after this weekend.

with the ohio state win tonite(pryor the savior) I feel better playing the badgers next week with them coming off a loose kinda being down rather then flying high with confidence for being osu for the first time in a while. PSU should win Im sure we can stop osu im just worried bout that damn michigan.

Good for them for refusing a crap deal like that.  Its not Pitt's job to worry about supporting PSU's multi-million dollar football program.  And as far as the alums support, that stuff in general makes me sick.  The amounts of money these schools bring in on tuition is disgusting, and they have the nerve to hit up the alums for donations.  I know that's how it is everywhere, but after paying tuition for years, no college is going to get one red cent from me till I have to send a young'un.
