i still think she is a nice lady, but not a vp candidate. was impressed by biden, thought he presented himself well and as a gentleman. palin did a whole lot better than i expected and deserves that recognition. think most felt she would fall flat. glad she was able to hold her own. not sure how others saw it, but i think biden was the clear cut winner.

read post on another outdoor site. every other nimblehead comments that palin is hot. the muscle in that group all say that it doesn't matter because all democrats are trash. you know, i think that there should be an intelligence test given before a ballot is handed out. really don't care who a person votes for, but it should be done with some semblance of intelligence. the american voter scares me anymore. i work with a guy who will vote for one party because his father and brother do the same. another hates the party in power now and will vote straight dem ticket, no matter what. scary.

That is true, I believe most voters are for the most part uninformed or really can't say why they are voting for someone.

she did revert back to the energy topic numerous times. think she was most comfortable there. still feel much more comfortable with biden, guess it is his experience. he does put his foot in his mouth once in awhile, but there is a whole calendar out with bushisms, so i don't think that is an issue.

Honestly I thought Palin did better than I expected, but she had little substance and as already mentioned when pushed for an answer reverted to her script. The big smile and winks may work for her at the PTA meeting, but it ain't going to fly on the national or international stage. She appears to be a nice person and a good citizen, but I don't believe she should be a heartbeat away from being the president. Even if I agreed with McCain and his views, just having Palin on the ticket would cause me to not vote for him. Instead of being an asset, I believe she is a liability.

You know what, say what you want and you may all and probably are all correct. But here's the thing and there's really no getting around it. If, as you all say, you really want someone in office who is going to look out for the common Joe which I'm going to assume that most of us are, then you cannot argue against the woman. She is by far the least of a political robot of any of the four of them and to me it's pretty refreshing to actually see someone stand up there and speak like an everyday person with 2.5 kids who goes to work to put food on the table. If I have to make a choice as to who can personally make my life better and my families as well, then there is no denying which way to vote. The lady is a straight shooter. She's not concerned with how she looks to the leader of any country. She seems genuinely concerned about the people of this country and their well being. You may not get four more years of what we have had for the past eight with an Obama/Biden ticket but that certainly does not mean that the next four years will be any better for the people on Main street as they like to call it. That doesn't mean MCcain is a saint either. But as most of the men in America already know, there's nothing like having a strong willed woman in your ear everyday telling you what they want and how you need to do it.

When Palin Started talking about not having health care i almost shed a tear....Then i realized that John McCain has been milking the govenment system and benefits like a cash cow for over 10 years. Gentlemen, While I think Biden won the debate, I think Sarah Palin did extremely well! She was very articulate and she seemed to give straight answers and even deviated from the script somewhat. I really enjoyed looking at the other persons' face when the one talking made a point. It showed when a point hit home. Joe Biden is a very basically honest man and I sometimes think he really doesn't want to be running with Obama, but the prestige of being a vp candidate is a strong lure. Gov. Palin seemed to reach the "people" This morning when I went to the local diner all the talk was on how well she did and how she came across as sincere and Sen Biden came across as a politican. I think the most disturbing trend I've noticed is that there are some white folks, even lifelong democrats, who will NOT vote for Obama because of his name and race. And then there are the people who will vote blindly because they are lifelong republicans. BUT the thing that really peeves me is when my Union sends me literature basically telling me how I HAVE to vote, because they know what's best for my and I'll be considered "breaking ranks" if I vote intelligently. Got a flash for the Union! Just by you're telling me what you did I will/did change my vote in a heartbeat! I am a free American and I will not have my vote coersed from me. I was very much on the fence till the letter arrived. Now it's no contest.

Don't drill - pay $5.00+ for auto fuel. Pay $$$+ for home heat & electricity - makes sense to me! Fred Thompson said Biden mis-represented McCain's record at least eleven times. Biden was smooth about it - part of the 30+ years in Senate. You're voting for more of the same! Me, I'm going fishing!

She actually is the biggest robot I've seen in politics besides McCain. Take away all the candidates scripts and notes and she would fair the worst by far. Also did she ever think that not every average American wants to be called Joe Six Pack? She really is an ignorant sl-t. Her crazy ass look in her eyes was disturbing. She also contradicted her own campaign when she criticized Biden for basically being too old and that she is the new energy. Note to Sarah: You're not running for president, a 72 year old man named John is, and you put him in the same boat with Biden by saying that. I had to laugh at Chris Rock's new special when he stated that McCain was a war hero....who got captured. No disrespect to POW's, (My uncle was in the same camp with McCain for 4 years) but that was f'n funny.

jon_e_si They both misrepresented each others records. It is the oldest political trick in the book. If you don't have anything of substance to say, rip on the other guy. It is sickening to watch the attack ads. While they are not usually outright lies, the truth is being seriously manipulated. For me I am getting a much clearer picture of the direction these two are going in and in particular when it comes to their philosophies. I find myself agreeing with Obama way more than with McCain, particularly in his ideas about foreign affairs. He basically has one solution to everything, do as we say or we will force you. He kept saying Obama did not get it when it comes to international affairs. It is sad to say it is McCain that has missed the boat, not Obama. Obama and Biden are light years ahead of McCain and Palin in the arena. The most telling part of the presidental debate was when Obama mentioned dealing with terrorist is a law enforcement issue. He is absolutely correct. Terrorists are criminals. They need to be dealt with as such. Invading countries, over turning governments, starting wars, or even declaring war on terrorism is totally the wrong approach. What the heck does it even mean to declare war on terrorism? How do you win that war? It is as stupid as saying you are declaring war on drugs or crime or stupidity for that matter. It is a never ending battle you cannot win. I am not saying do nothing but the cowboy mentality of lets go in guns a blazing is at best a band aid being applied to a gushing wound. If we are honest and really want peace in the world, we need to find ways to heal wounds not create new ones. We need to seek justice for EVERYONE and a sense of fairness. The old protest chant is still true today, "No Justice, No Peace." Having said that, I would say that McCain and Palin are not good choices to lead. I don't believe the direction they are wanting to take the country is the right one and for that reason I cannot support them. I do believe they are both honest and upstanding people and I believe they believe they are doing the right thing. For that I respect their opinions, even if I do not agree with them.

How tiring is it to hear that people like someone because they are just like them? WTF? Why would I want an average American in office? I want someone smarter than me. Just think about having Palin as a coworker or worse yet, a boss, at your job (With her education she wouldn't even qualify for my job, much less my boss). Doesn't sound so appealing anymore does it. I want someone to lead my country that does not refer to themselves as Joe Six Pack. Better yet, I want to know they've never even bought a six pack. When I have a long day I love a beer, but when the Pres or VP have a long day I want them to have a coffee and go through the night if need be. I can't grasp this average American connection people want to see in the very people that will lead our country, and the entire world.

"Better yet, I want to know they've never even bought a six pack." anybody that believes it when somebody tells you theyve never bought or drank a 6-pack, i'll be more than happy to sell them the Walnut Creek Access i purchased the other day. self-proclaimed Bible-toting, alcohol-free, drug-free, etc..., saints, are USUALLY(not all) the biggest violators of what they SAY they dont do. imo lies, corruption, greed etc... is what has caused the situation this country is in. hard work and working hard for the hands that feed you have gone by the wayside.

Yeah, we've had eight friggin years of "the guy next door that I would like to have a beer with"...enough...I don't want a g-damn hockey mom running the country!! Sorry, but I don't, and if you think for a minute that she's "just like you" then you've fallen for one big act. I used to live in Alaska...it ain't "mainstreet"...it ain't "the heartland", it's Alaska. She and her husband have been well paid energy consultants/oil execs. for the last twenty years. The difference between the haves and the have nots is never more aparrent than it is in Alaska. Her appearance as this common lady is only that, the only thing common about her is her ability to put words into sentences and to recall information. Having said that, I believe she is probably a good governor and that she has done some good things in Alaska and she seems like a nice person. But, I just can't see her sitting in some high level meeting with the Chiefs of Staff discussing military strategy... "Gee whizz there General Petraues, I think we ought to send some troops over there to show those rascals we mean business!!"
