politics and religion aside. arguing either is a recipe for an argument no matter what.

not defending her, but just because somebody is not well-versed doesnt mean that they dont know what theyre talking about. many career students who have every degree known to man have a hard time changing light bulbs without instructions. an example of that is a fella that posts on these boards that types well, talks well, is well-read but changes stories and opinions like socks. they would, however, make a perfect local politician.

not saying she can or cant do the job, but imo theres a lot of street smart(not saying she is), "red-neck," "hick talking" people that are very intelligent and awful successful.

I'll take the most "street-smart" intelligent, LEAST corrupt, hard-working person, over the most educated(book smart), looking out for themselves, more corrupt person any day.

one of my favorite sayings EVER is "hard work beats talent when talent doesnt work hard."

man, i wish i could get this through my thick skull. i have to realize that i will change no ones mind nor will they change mine.

as for hick talking people, i know plenty who have more common sense than anyone should have. these have been great teachers. it takes all kinds, i guess.

When she was making her Joe Six Pack statement she was trying to convey that she is an average American because she lost 20,000 in the stock market recently. Average Americans don't have 2,000 in their god damned checking accounts. She also said the work "Nuculer". It's nuclear you dolt. I kind of want my leaders to be able to spell at least that word and pronounce it correctly. Just that one word.

I hear what you are saying, and I agree...but I don't get that from Palin. There are many, many southern congressmen who sound like they just walked out of a Leonard Skynard concert on a hot Alambama night and from what they say and how they say it I can feel their intelligence and grasp of knowledge. I don't get that from Palin. Maybe I'm wrong but I think she was a "feel good" vote in Alaska, a fluke so to speak, and I think she is in over her head in this situation. Just my impression of her.

really think the republican party should have run colin powell.....military, educated, likeable, and not afraid to go against the party grain. only made one mistake that i know of, but has since had solid integrity and patriotism.

Couldn't agree with you more about Colin Powell as V.P. choice. I believe as a former Sec. of State he would have covered McCain's back on foriegn policy.
Would have been real interesting if McCain had have been a real "maverick" and crossed party lines and chosen Hillary. I can't even imagine the chaos that would've brought.

Hilary's biggest problem is her husband. I've never seen a man more despised by more people in my life. Every time he opened his mouth in the campaign he cost her votes.

i am deluded, but what i would love to see is a president elected, then renounce his party and then announce that his utmost loyalty would be to the american people and not some political party.

i think our new party should be called the national party or american party. it would represent the majority of americans who comprise the middle class and would give them some attention.

They are all still all politicians and I have a very hard time beleiving any of them are looking for what is best for the public than it is for lining their own pockets. Therefore I really don't know who the hell to vote for. I think I'm going fishing too!!!

Dem. for 41 years and now I'm a registered Rep. and glad of it. I believe Palin did an exceptional job during the debate considering the back rounds of both. We need a few new fresh faces who are willing to slow down the growth of government instead of increasing it and making more people dependent on government hand outs. Big brother cannot take care of everyone.

I think Palin was successful in the debate only because she did not flop and fall on her face. Other than this, she was obviously programmed, when she got out of the rehearsed mode she fumbled over words, and avoided questions that she could speak extensively on.
In my opinion, she did not understand the role of the VP when she stated that it is a position which had rights that extend beyond the executive and into the legislative branch. This is very scary, especially in wake of Dick Cheney's reign.
She was personable and almost likeable, but not close to presidential.

Just my dimes worth!

she's a broad that didnt blow it when everybody thought she would. she's getting a ton of publicity and if she doesnt get all whacked out she may pull it off and may even get the job done. one thing's for sure, nobody can nag and freak out like a woman. IF she and Mccain do pull it off and IF she has the right intentions, she'll beach and moan until she gets her way, and HOPEFULLY does the right thing for this country. time will tell. i cant wait till this is all over.

Not a political robot? She is more controlled by advisers than any politition I have seen in the last half century. That may be because she is new and afraid to make gaffs on the national stage, but it is true for whatever the reason may be.

She said Biden was wrong about the commander in Afghanistan saying a surge like in Iraq would not work. She was either wrong or lying since he was quoted on 10/2 in the Washington Post as saying exactly that. Wrong I can handle but since I haven't seen an apology yet I have to believe she was knowingly lying about it and That I can't take. It doesn't matter how homey you are. I will not vote for someone that would lie about something as important as American soldiers lives.

Your playing with words---He said a surge of the "type" that was used in Iraq wouldn't work. A surge is an influx of more troops into an area so you can drive the enemy out and hold it long enough to secure it. The General has asked for more troops to do just that.

What he said basicaly is that it will take more than a surge, remember that is a short term influx of trioops. He says he needs more troops period not a surge.
As for the surge working in Iraq. I don't think that can be judged until the extra troops have been pulled out and we are back to the number before the surge. Here in my home city the murder rate is rediculous. Our mayor did what he called zero tolerance. Extra police on overtime 24/7. Worked pretty good til the money ran out after a month but now that the force on the street has gone back to normal numbers the shootings happen about 3-4 times a week again. A surge hasn't worked until the violence does not start again when the surge is over. If the troops have to stay it is not a surge as Mr Bush defined it it is an increase in troop strength. How long can we keep 130000 troops in the Iraq?
By the way he said what he said and she denied it.

No difference at all----He may not have looked at his notes quite as often but he had them and looked at them many times during the debate. You either failed to notice or didn't watch it. All canidates of both parties spend countless hours practicing mock debates to get it right. Time to climb a tree. bye

This debate can go on forever. We all see what we see in her and no amount of arguing will change that. Either you like her or you don't. Personally, she seems like a reasonably nice person, but I don't think she has what it takes for the job of VP. Others seem to think she does. So be it. We all will get our opportunity to express our feelings in November.

You can vote, you can run, or back someone to run (big problem for them is to resist the temptations once they are there or to feel obligated to those who put them there, and I think this is one of the major problems with Obama)!
