Just was wondering what alot of you guys are using and packs.
meaning chest packs or waist packs.
I have used a chest pack for years and it kills my shoulders and back after 10 hours of fishing.  I was looking into a new waist pack called a riptide from william josphe  anyone ever use one by chance. Or let me know what can hold a great amount of fishing tackle........thanks.

I have the William Joseph Confluence chest pack.  I like it alot, it has alot of nice features.  The main pouch in the front has a flip down fly patch in it, tippet dispenser, and 2 retracters to hold nippers and forceps.  I can fit 2 medium sized fly boxes in the front and whatever else will fit in the back of it.  I would highly recommend this pack to anyone.

The products that fishpond make are the most well balanced packs I have ever had. They cost a little more but they  are worth it IMO

William and Joseph packs are pretty nice they are designed with curved mesh netting for the back that takes the strain off your shoulders and upper back.  Ill have to agree with esox hunter on the Willy J's, nothing but love from me.

If I'm doing a lot of walking, trying to avoid the crowds. I'll take my hunting back pack and pack all of my gear in it, Lunch, drinks, spare clothes, extra fly boxes, xtra fly reels, scale, camera, a spinning reel in case I need to throw it on my flyrod (the purist are cringing), xtra sunglasses, a box with some spoons,  etc....  Mine has a waist strap and distributes the weight pretty well, so its not too heavy.

ready for doomsday arent we?..[:D]......guess im just as guilty though.....but i find my lunch makes up more weight than the rest of my gear[;)]...

for 99 dollars its costly but many pockets and even a hydration blatter.

but even with those many storage pockets i still need something to hold more.... gonna start using a hiking back pack as well.

also i rarely eat during normal times ill fish from sun rise to sun set then finished the evening off at Avonia Tavern

bare with me on this one...i use a "nine west" purse i found at a yard sale for $2...its tan/brown and has no "girly" features...actaully had a couple guys ask me where i got it cause they wanted one[:D]....its got two long skinny pockets on each side(holds floats excellent) and a zip up pouch in the front with slots for cards(i mean extra tippet/sinkers/anything small) and 1 large middle pocket( holds a plano flipside box/fly box and an extra spool of line rather nicely)....whole thing is about 5in wide by 9 inches tall...works great...[:D][:D][:D]...if i hadn't of found this i would still be using the waist pack...doesnt hurt the back as bad...

This is the most comfortable, well balanced pack that I have ever used.  There is an infinite number of pockets including several waterproof pockets for cameras and phones.

Great balance even when fully loaded with extra clothes and such for those days that start out cool in the AM but warm up later and cause you to shed a layer or two.

Worth every penny.

Isn't a hiking backpack a tad bit of overkill Lou?  lol Erie isn't washington or BC bro...but that LL bean pack is nice i know a few ppl that have em and it isn't too bad of a price compared to other brands.  What do u carry with you that you would need a hiking backpack just curious?

With all that tackle in there, do you still have enough room for your kleenex, eye shadow, blush, nail polish, and tampons?

I have a bad back, so put down the fishing vests etc 2 years ago. I picked up a small green fishing back pack from
cabelas 2 years ago. It has padded straps and padded back.and a compartment that can hold 4 - 3200 series boxes in it (i think). Has lots of places to store stuff and waterproof compartments also. I am not afraid to say that it is one of the best purchases I have made when it comes to fishing equiptment. It big enough that i can leave ALL of my salmon and steelhead tackle in it year round. I just carry it with me to where i am going then leave it on bank behind or around me. I tried to find it on their website, but the only one i could find is the blue one they have for guides (don't order it anyone...unless you like HUGE HUGE back packs - i am talking from neck to as s cheeks this thing is). Mine it sitting down stairs drying out from the rains and unoticed roll from bank into shallows at Salmon river this past weekend. I'll take a pic of the bag and all the stuff I have on a little table that I manage to fit into it maybe

I have a huge jig container that barely fits in my guide series vest pack thats why i switched to the ll bean pack. but then my hidration bladder wont fit if i take the jig pack. I know I dont need every one of my flys with me but I seem to have 4-7 fly boxes with me each time for the "just in case"

The hiking pack is in case i wanna take a lunch lol it was ment to be a joke but the more i think about it ya i prolly could end up using a back pack of some sort.

The b!tch about the lunch is you can't shake that weight unless you leave brown trout on the bank...[:D]

In all seriousness, I picked this pack up on Ebay new a few years ago for around $30.  It also came with two fly/jig packs.  Good lower back support too.  It literally fits EVERYTHING I need.  I love it so far.
