From those pictures I can see the advantages of a 14' drift rod or an 11' fly rod.

They are now making me consider a full blown 14' spey rod... it would be near impossible to mend all the way to the other side of the river if using a standard rod...

Looks like mother nature dont want us to catch any steel this year

Mother nature hasn't let anyone down.
the fish are there now, Rocky, in several creeks
plenty of guys are catching too and have been for a month.

the fish have been and will continue to come in whether we get a gully washer or not.
(those aren't all the same 25 fish in the project hole that have been there for 3 weeks now)
The reports of duuds slamming them at the The Wall of Nutz is because fresh fish were running

Ya'll stay home waiting/praying  for rain like something miraculous  happens after the sky lets loose.
Keep thinking that you should wait for the rain that you think will bring  mass waves of chrome so thick that the  creeks glitter
While apple knockers like me and some friends continue put steel on the bank

man, I just read what I wrote, I sounded pretty pi$$y, Huh?
Sorry, I'm a little bummed out cause I had well over a dozen bites today.
(and that's just the ones a SAW)
I watched numerous  steelies ranging from 5 to 10 pounds  chase down  and take my bugger and I couldn't land a one.
matter of fact, I never had one on for more than 10 seconds in 4 hours of fishing.

Some days it's just the turn of the hook that makes it a great day of catching
or a long ride home with the smell of SKUNK emanating from the driver's seat...

Conditions like they are now, is how my wife and I had one of the better spots on the west side nearly all to our selves for most of Friday morning. There is plenty of fish to be had, just use your brain and do some research. The fish are there, but if you can't adapt to the water/weather conditions, just stay home. Not trying to be a smart ass, it is what it is and for now it's not getting any better.

As a side note, nearly every fisherman we encountered this trip went out of the way to be considerate and helpful. I must add that 80% of them were Erie locals, not making any judgments just stating facts as we experienced them this weekend. We fished Trout Run, Walnut and another place with success varying from very limited to outstanding.

thanks for the pictures!!!  that is insane, cant wait for the rain to hit im chompin at the bit. made a trip with two other guys last weekend--we all hooked up, had a blast in the morning before daylight, then after sun came up stopped hitting except for on single eggs-size 20 hook. Us three went to trout and elk mouths, fished the lake, had a blast battling the waves-got tuckered out and headed for the hotel--- im really not one to complain but WOW this hotel room sucked-  we looked for cheap just a place to rest our head for about 4 hrs--spent 58 bucks--heater did not work--and the window cranks would not work--had to go get grippers out of truck to shut windows--and shower just trickled.  i cant recall the name((something like augustine)) but we are making a trip out this weekend and i will find out and post it so others dont get taken.   PRAYING FOR RAIN

Today was even worse.  I took a drive to check out things today and was amazed at the zoo going on down at Walnut.  It's one thing to crowd a spot with some decent flow going through, but today was ridiculous.

welp, I for one am glad those boys and girls are there!

I say THANK GAWD, for Da Nut access  and project waters!
or  those folks with the "Manchester mentality" (credit Jiggy Jim Stillhead for coining that term)
Those folks with the Manchester mentality would be crowding others elsewhere

let 'em have it, i say!

it's cool Rocky.
and it's nothing personal, and no offense intended, i promise.
I really was in a pi$$y mood when i posted that LOL

heck, we'd all like to see rain to get the creeks flowing and fish moving up.
Honestly though, it's more common than not to have skinny water in Sept/early Oct
Outdoorwriter said it best

maybe we will cross paths, if we do, i promise to be in a better mood

Right on duud, genie hit it the nail on the head.  Me and two friends had a blast on friday, first "double digit" day of the year for me.  We stopped over da nut in the afternoon and put 5 or so older tired fish on the bank in about an hour.  Not much fun fishing that ditch though.  Fish the wall if you wanna fish Walnut, good action for fresh fish there.  Da boys got em' surrounded in the actual stream itself...  and no fresh fish are making it past the first project hole.

Jim,

Thanks for the jigs again...  I ended up breaking about 7 of them off to fish though by the end of the day.  You were right about getting frustrated with trying to get those fish in, lol.  Seems like you guys did WAY better than us!

Heres a few pics.

Laughing at my buddy who almost tripped and fell while taking this picture... haha

My friend Shawn with a nice one.

This fish was a bruiser, poor picture though...

The rain will come, but until then I'll continue to have fun around the mouths of the streams on fresh fish.  You guys can wait till the rain comes, you can have seconds...  lol

No problem, I'll see if I can't get some more tied up tomorrow.  The new log up there with all the limbs coming off it is an incredible pain.

We struggled for a while at the start, tried fishing the lake in the rollers but only hooked a few.  Had a couple hours here and there after that when we couldn't do anything wrong.

You'll need more than a pocket full for Mr. Snaggy that was in that last spot.  It's been a while since I've run into someone that got on my nerves that bad, finally just had to walk away.

Thats nice making fun of the big guy, What a jerk! Now thats the attitude of a good sportsman, Probably the same guy that took a dump in someones yard and caused more land to be closed for public fishing or maybe left his garbage lay around for proprty owners to pick up. You people have alot of nerve making fun of someone on this site that is for fishing discussion. GET A LIFE LOSERS! Good thing that isn't my dad or brothers or even a friend I'd hunt you down and hurt you. Make sure you teach your kids to make fun of people to, Just what society needs more MORONS!

Thats nice making fun of the big guy,

I must of missed the part where they were "making fun" of him.
I didn't feel like re-reading all the posts though.

TransAm made a comment that the dude was "huge"
welp, I'd say that's a fair statement.
as he does indeed look like a big corn fed feller, no?

but you're right.
and  we probably shouldn't be making fun of the "wall of Nutz" peeps  or the "got 'em surrounded" folks fishing in a bath tub either

edit, I just Joker101's comment.
so yea, there were some making fun

Can't believe nobody mentioned how irritating it is for the guy in blur to park himself in the middle of the creek at the top of the hole (left of big fellow).  Man I hate that.  All that guy does is snag everybody else.
