I just tied over 150 egg patterns for swaps, people, and myself. I know the glo bugs should be the easiest (sometimes my toughest) ive mixed and match yarn and mcfly foam, estaz, and braids. which is your favorite egg pattern that you find yourself tying over and over because you know it works?

I was on elk last year before a terrible front came moving in and the bite was nonexistant or very slow but one fellow from ohio said Oregon Cheese was the best color period... is this true?

I like a cheese color also, cream, and you also can't go wrong with a light pink for steelies.

Egg paterns are all basically the same, drift them properly and you will catch fish.  As far as colors go, I can't say any one is better than another but, as a rule of thumb the dirtier the water the bigger an brighter the egg pattern I use.  I keep it simple and carry SS and glo-bugs in #12-20 in 6 different colors and Estaz flies #10-14 in about 4 different colors.  I can't see any reason to ever carry more egg patterns than that.

I almost forgot about the "ripple crush". It was deadly for me last year, especially at the Salmon River.

At a creek I fish in New York, Peach eggs are killer. In Erie I have had my best luck on chartreuse Estaz eggs, especially in semi-stained water.

size 14 hook sucker spawn tied low water style (about a normal size 16 body, or about 4 loops). Either creme with an orange stripe (normal green water color), pale pink with a bright pink stripe (cold clear water color), or oregon cheese (dirtier water color). I don't fish glo bugs or hot eggs. At any color, tie them sparse and translucent and you'll catch fish.

thanks,
rick

Its egg yarn. Not to be confused with yarn for sucker spawn, or mcFly Foam. It looks like mcFlyFoam, totally different

Maybe i have the names mixed up, cause i never keep the packages this stuff comes in. Go to any of the shops in erie, look for something that looks just like mcfly foam. I know fly fishers carries it too. I looked, fishusa doesnt carry it.

Its definitely still made!

I called fly fishers just for you guys.

Its called GloBug YARN

http://www.fishusa.com/tackleshop/catalog_product.asp?url=Glo-Bugs-Yarn&i=F5FD70E792D0405986832ECE95C2AC0B&fx=1

thats the exact same material used to make those flies, if not, it should be

to get that hairy look... comb it
