Well don't worry about live shinners! And /Or what type. Don't matter much. We bought goldens at the top of the hill,,, $ 10.00 worth. He gave us a million. They were TOOO BIG!! Cut them in 1/2-1/3rds. Also bought a $5.00 bag of "salties". They worked better! We had to use a perch spredder with #6 or #8 snelled gold aberdeen hooks. Straighten out the spredder so that it is straight across the weight, keeps the hooks farther apart, less tangles. We use 3/4oz. to 1oz. of weight 2" off of the bottom to keep the 4# braided (spider wire-fire line- pro line) tight. The bait had to be lying on the bottom. Last week they were picking it up and running, so you could feel a tap. This week they just sucked it up and SAT THERE, so you had to raise and lower the sinker a foot or two REAL SLOW to feel the extra weight and then SET THE HOOK. We caught 150 last week, 3 limits this week, same place but the fish ran small. N.E. 60'- 62' First trench. We marked millions of fish for hrs and then they vanished! Go figure. There is a bunch of perch being caught N.NW. in 42' also. We went out of Conny Yesterday (9-26) for walleyes, N to 69' to 70', trolled West. WE MARKED MORE FISH IN 5 MILES THAN WE EVER SEEN BEFORE! Monsters, 65' down. Only had 5 blank screens in 5 hours! WATCH THE WEATHER! http://www.srh.noaa.gov/productview.php?pil=GLFLE&max=61 Caught 13 in the first run, turned around and went back but the lake starter to blow up to 3'-5'ers.
