I'll Give it a try.  i normally do not use scent before end of Oct. but will do what you ask.  i'm curious since i just read an article that says big buck have an early rut with mature does.  it was in field and stream.

PA what general area of 2D do you hunt?  I am in northern Allegheny which is 2B but, I have a couple spots in Armstrong County (2D).  I haven't hunted 2D in a few years and was curious where your hunting.

OK, I'll give it a try.  I'll be in 2A, 2B, or 2C.  Obviously, if I would score, I'll report the WMU.  Most likely 2B.  Let me ask you this, if I try this and nothing happens, do you want to know that too?  In other words, if I dont see any deer, should I report that?

Good luck...hope you tag it. I figure its trying stuff like this that can make that chance happen.

One of my main theories on why this will work is obviously all doe's come in at diff times. I know if i didnt have sex for a year my sniffer would be on lock too. Its not like deer forget what a doe in heat smells like. Add to that they try to breed doe's before they are ready to be bred. One last thing is during the rut, the woods are SATURATED with the smell of doe's in heat. What makes your bomb/drag compare to the piss drippn down a live doe's leg?

yea i saw that article and let it sink in a bit and it made sense.  because i've seen a good many buck early in the season and then they seem to disapear for a couple of weeks.  this can explain that.

btw i'll be hunting mostly 1A and maybe some 2A if i'm lucky enough to get an invite to some farms down there.

Looks like we'll have a pretty good distribution around the areas. Should make it better possibility wise. I can only assume this will play out differently at different parts of the state.

---- EDIT ---

On second thought, the data itself should show if it skews to one end of the week or the other. (original post was about splitting into two groups, beginning of week to wed and wed to end of week)

Count me in as well. I will be hunting 1-B. I read the same article in Field and Stream. I was planning on trying this anyhow, but this just makes it better. This way we have more than one experience to compare with. I definately believe to the right deer this will be very effective. I have noticed a couple of really nice mature bucks that I have been watching showing interest in some of the doe. Not to mention the particular doe they are paying attention to seem to be enticing the situation. I have had lots of success in the past with using "rutt" technniques in the early season. Great plan I can't wait to see the results.

Count me in...I shot my luck last year over estrous in a scrape and will give it a shot during that time period.

I went and got Tinks #69 and some scent bombs today.  I assume you want us to try rut/estrous lures, not more general lures.  Now, I need to decide what stand I'm gonna try this at.
