Jeb,
I buy my bead heads and my angora from craft stores but disassembling yardsale Mattel products is a bit of a reach for me... I must admit I have taken some hair from several dolls, unicorns and other such easy pickings that lay around the rack...

Yes, I admitt its low tech, but it works

Cat hair lint from a dryer screen as orange body dubbing!  Now that's cheap!  Unfortunately it works.  But now my cats look at me funny when I try to toss them in the dryer.

So the cats didnt care about trips through the dryer until you started using their fur as dubbing?  Stupid cats..

It's grat exercise for  them just like a gerbil in a wheel.  Plus they get to practice jumping over the speed bumps every 1/3 turn.    I am joking!  However once my female cat got in the dryer when I was taking some clothes out and since there was a pair of pants still slightly wet I turned around and threw them back in and turned it on.  Lasted all of 3 seconds!    Nowwhen I open the dryer door she runs and hides.

I used hair from my daughters 1st hair cut on a jig and caught trout on it through the ice. I also used some beagle hair on jigs too, stiff like deer hair. I use what I can, most of it works.  My wife got so mad at how much I spent on my vise I can't buy any real materials !!! LOL
