The rubber crossmember is flimsey, but it has never cost me a fish...and I have had the net for 3+ seasons

i got one of the hand glove nets. it's great for steelies. you can grab them by the tail and the fish doesn't slip away. the net doesn't get in the way walking or wading. i don't like dragging the fish across the rocks either. ~dt

I like to net them most of the time, well I mean you need a buddy to net them...I always carry this net...It folds up and is easy to clip on the pack.

Same net my buddy carries with him.  I was thinking of getting one for this year.  I am just not crazy about the crossmember in the front of the net, it is kinda flimsy.  I agree with most about a net not being neccessary most of the time however, sometimes it can be helpful in saving a bit of wear and tear on the fish.  Also when fishing in crowded situations it sure helps not to have to move much to land em.

I had that same net for awhile. It worked real good for me. It bent a bit from all those massive steelies that I netted, but still worked until one day on crooked when I tried to cross a blown out creek and off it went in the current into Lake Erie. If you find it it is all yours, lol.

A net is a necessity if combat fishing in a crowd. The others really do not appreciate it if you play a fish too long. I truly enjoy watching some of the escapades on Walnut, when someone tries to net a fish by slapping the water. Boy do some of those guys get upset if the fish manages to escape their feeble attempts at capture. It is hilarious. I usually just play the fish to my boots and try to loosen the hook with my forceps. Carrying a net is a pain, sort of like the walking stick that the wife wants me to start using.
