the congress is has the worst rating in history, who runs congress? senators, three of them are now canadates for there party, makes you wonder.

what about obama's experience? please! he has no more exp. in forein affairs than palin, oh ya obama went to school with muslums and lived in another country. while a senator he has been there 143 days i believe since in session. 80% he voted present. 143 days experience you can't even become a manager at mac's or burger king. with only that much exp. you're voting for a pres. of the united states for goodness sakes not a manager of a local charity or community advisor like acorn.
talk is cheap, what has obama done to show he has exp. in anything exept talk, pause, talk, hesitate what he's going to say yet, pause. HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW MANY STATES THERE ARE OFF THE TOP OF HIS HEAD!! don't try to compare obama's experience to any three candidates up there so far. he won't add up. imo
education? my cousin grad. from yale with high honors does that make him qualified to become pres?

Then show me how MOST of the American men on this site are thinking otherwise. Not scientific buddy but a pretty good sample none the less.
Think I'll just stay young and think my own way. Your club is too exclusive for me.

And again, you have serious issues if that's why you are voting for someone.  MOST American men are smarter than that.  Grow up, think a little bit, and join the club.

Even Joe Biden likes her...

Biden and Obama campaigned in Ohio Sunday.TOLEDO, Ohio (CNN) – Joe Biden says there are obvious differences between himself and fellow vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, but they’re not just on policy. She’s good-looking.
“There’s a gigantic difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent,” Biden said at an outdoor rally Sunday, getting ready to hit the GOP ticket for their economic policies.
“She’s good-looking,” he quipped.

Yeah I think that looks can only get you so far . She's good looking but the way she talks annoys me.

You know what...I'm not going to try to persuade you...would be a waste of my time.  Sounds like you have pretty strong feelings about Obama's credentials.  Nothing wrong with that.  However, personally a degree from Harvard doesn't impress me.  I know a Harvard grad and a Princeton grad that can't find their a$$es with both hands.  What does impress me is someone that saw a problem with their kids schools and got involved.  Saw problems with the local government and ran and won as mayor of a small town.  Saw corruption within her state's government (both within HER party and the opposition party), ran for governor and won.  She rooted out the corrupt and turned the gov't bureaucrats on their head.  8 out of 10 of her fellow Alaskans give her an enthusiastic thumbs up.  (By the way...Alaska's population is not much smaller than Delaware's...Joe Biden's state 683,478 vs 864,764).  She's run a business, (commercial fishing in Alaska...not for the faint of heart), her husband is a rough neck...sounds like a lot of families I know.  It also doesn't bother me that she's an outdoorswoman, in fact, the elites mock the fact that she can field dress a moose...I find that a plus not a minus.
She's managed and run things.  To me, that's a bunch more relevent that being in the U.S. Senate for less than 200 days, never running anything.
Her looks are not what impresses me...

quote:

... As far as her experience it speaks for itself and has been plastered everywhere.  If you think that qualifies you have fairly low standards for who you would choose to lead.  You can say Obama doesn't have much but he is a U.S. Senator and has at the very least inspired many people in this country...

Hey, thats Kool & the Gang, if you like her, by all means vote for her (oh...and that McCain guy too...), hell, I WANT you to vote for her, that's what makes America great.  But dont try to make it sound like millions of people are in her fanatic Alaska fanbase.  Hell, there'd be plenty of tickets available for everyone in the state to attend a Steeler game this year.  And the comparison to Biden is a good one (I need to read up on him, but have been too busy learning to tie flies), though comparing population density, Alaska, I'd have to imagine, has the lowest in the 50 states, whereas Delaware is what? in the bottom 5 in terms of area?  Totally different challenges, I would suspect.  (Not that that makes running Alaska an easy job at all, just saying that for as much as its an apt comparison, its kind of like...hmm...gold delicious apples to crabapples?)

Myself?  I think that just based on ideals and stances, I'd vote for Palin for president in a heartbeat.  Her thoughts and intentions are in the right place, it seems, and I love that she fights corruption.  Still, if McCain is elected, theres a very real possibility of his health becoming an issue between now and 2012, and I just dont think Palin could fill the shoes.

...which begs the question of Obama's ability to fill the shoes...and the vicious cycle begins anew...

I agree with you, at least partially.  I'm actually finding myself again having to vote for the lesser of two evils.  I'm not a huge McCain fan, because he's too liberal in some areas for my taste.  I believe he's an honorable man, and I admire his willingness to fight for what he believes in even against his own party at times...I just don't agree with him on some issues (immigration, campaign finance reform, etc.) although I think he's well intentioned.  Palin, on the other hand, I agree with in ideology and motivation (meaning I don't think she's in politics for the power).  I think she was a good choice for McCain.
As far as not being able to fill the shoes, ponder this.  The presidency was never meant to be a bastion for the elite attorneys or bureaucrats.  Some of our best presidents were farmers, soldiers, and businessmen.  Washington was a surveyor/distiller, Adams a farmer/businessman, Truman a farmer then soldier, JFK a writer/sailor, Reagan an actor, then governor.  Certainly, we've had some good presidents with a law background (Lincoln, FDR), but some of our worst were lawyers/bureaucrats (Pierce, Buchanon, Fillmore, Tyler, Nixon).  Personally, I'd rather have someone in office that has had calluses on their hands and dirt under their fingernails, or agonized over a balance sheet and made the tough decisions as to hire or fire someone.  This is more important to me than having had lunch with the president of Algeria at some point in their life...As long as they have sound judgement and are a good manager.

I have no place in a political discussion. But I would tear that up!  Please pardon my German. And I'm young. Probably half her age.

Here's to you Mrs. Palin, Jesus loves you more than you will know.

Classic, Deadbolt.

And to Bogey...I would be a republican in an ideal world.  A conservative at least.  But things have gone a bit south in terms of leadership since the 1700s, agreed?  And in response, I've decided to get what I can out of a leader for a few years (sounds harsh, but you get no better treatment in return from them).  And for me personally, I think that this year, there's no really good or bad choice compared to the other.  I like Palin and Obama slightly more than their opponents, but unfortunately, that isnt a ticket.

Still an undecided independent for now.

All those things are admirable about her Bogey.  My problem is that she's turned into a celebrity, someone that the conservative base would like to "sit down and have a beer with".  Do you remember the last time we voted for someone based on that idea?

My issue right now with Palin is that I don't know any of her stances on any major issues...save abortion and drilling.  When is she going to come out and let us know what she thinks??

One thing for sure is that the Republican spin doctors got exactly what they wanted, a lot of talk about the VP candidate and to deflect attention away from the presidental candidate that was falling behind in the polls.  I find it odd that people are flocking to McCain not so much for his views, but because they have fallen in love with his VP candidate.  Wave a sexy, conservative woman in the faces of the people, they will overlook the reasons they were not interested in voting for McCain.  It really does not matter if Palin is qualified to be president should the occasion arise, she has what it takes to get McCain elected.  That is why she was choosen.  Pretty short sighted if you ask me.

Well said, Bughawk.  Wouldn't it have been more appropriate for McCain to give an interview on 20/20?  It's like ordering a Burger King meal, even though you hate their burgers, because those fries are so damn tasty!

Probably not as short-sighted as not selecting Hillary.

Some say Biden will have "health" issues - drop out - she'll get the nod!

Ahhhhh, they still question the power of a good looking woman. That's what I find so odd.

Mac was gaining in the polls before he even announced her as his running mate. She really  caught the Dems off guard. Obama's tone in his speaches lately have been "cranky" or "upset" in my opinion. So much that now he is speaking from telepromtors at his rallies from now on. I think he's cracking a little or becoming undone a little.

On a serious note: Yemen had bombings.... Our national security is our number 1/tied with the economy. One major incident like 9/11 in the US again will spin our economy for the worse again. We need to keep the iron in the fire. I think that Mac will be a better leader against terrorism than Obama. As a Navy vet/pow I think he has a high respect for war and what is really involved. He was in it and saw first hand.  I do not think he would put our troops in harms way to die in vain.

While I respect your opinions, and agree with much of it, this caught me a bit off guard.  McCain's the guy that would consider keeping us in Iraq for the next century, right?  Maybe he sees this as a necessary thing, but his stance on Iraq will probably be what loses him my vote if I end up not voting for him.  There are several issues I disagree with him on, but Iraq is the biggest one.

Iraq is what I agree with him the most on.  If Bush would've listened to McCain at the beginning of the war (4 times the number of troops initially, get rid of Rumsfeld, don't alienate the Iraqi military, etc.) then we'd be out of there by now.  His comment about "maybe 100 years" was taken out of context.  He didn't mean occupation forces, but possibly a base.  We've been in Okinawa for 63 years.  Germany for the same amount of time.  The Phillippines for over 100 years.  With the possible exception of S. Korea, I don't hear too many people suggesting we close these bases.

MOST American men are smarter than that.

I don't think so...  Wasn't it 4 years ago, that you heard "4 more years" out of 1/2 of the men out there?  This administration drives us into the ground, and people out there are chanting for more of it???  Now we are in the worst shape as a nation, since the Great Depression, and many of these same are chanting for 4 more.  All in the name of allegence to the Republican party.  I have very little faith in the intellegence level of 50% of this country's men.  The Republican machine could rape some of these men's children (physically, since they already have financially), and they'd still be lining up for more.

All I have to say right now about Palin is that she better sharpen up her ability to articulate answers and actually display some knowledge of the issues or she is going to get slaughtered in the VP debates and is going to align herself with the failed administration now in power.

Also, she better start to answer some of the questions that are being asked of her by the press.  Whatever your view of FOX and MSNBC are, it doesn't cancel out the vast majority of real Journalists working for thousands of outlets whose job it is to get answers from politicians to provide to the public.  I absolutley don't buy the argument from her camp that "the press is being unfair".  Can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

PT, agreed on your point, but I was referring to US men being smarter than to vote based on whether they want to bone the candidate or not.  We love p-ssy, but most have the smarts to consider what is best for them and their families before they factor in a broad's looks.  Now, whether male Bush supporters wanted to bone him 4 years ago when they voted is an entirely different and disturbing discussion.
