Youghman -> Ike (9/12/2008 12:36:55 PM)

As we all eagerly anticipate some big rain and steel in the creeks our brothers and sisters along the Gulf Coast are going to be dealing w/ the biggest natural catastrophe to come along in recent memory.
It looks like many will suffer the loss of everything they have, including their lives.
Please include these folks in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days. From what it looks like on The Weather Channel and CNN, the residents of these affected areas will be in dire straits for a long while.
God Bless and protect the Gulf Coast.

I have not intentionally watched the BIG MEDIA coverage of anything recently, including storms.  I will check it out.  Prayers already sent.  Thanks for the sobering reminder.

Gentlemen,
  While my deepest sympathy goes out to those folks for all their losses I have to ask the deep question.  If you were told to Mandatory Evacuate, and you had the means to do so, and you CHOSE to remain, and were injured where does that leve you?  My prayers do go out to all the folks and I hope they recover soon.

spoonchucker -> RE: Ike (9/14/2008 5:07:48 PM)

They've had to do over 1,500 rescues of folks who "chose" to stay, over 400 by air. These people put others at risk by their choice, and should be fined if possible. You free choice, is not always yours alone.

spoonchucker -> RE: Ike (9/14/2008 8:26:32 PM)

We needed the rain, we're getting the wind. 50+ here, electric flickered a few times, and went out once.

How about a dozen hots with everything from the Coney? Just toss the box up, and to the left, and it'll come right by my house.

Bughawk -> RE: Ike (9/14/2008 9:38:07 PM)

My neighbor had a tree hit his house about an hour ago and knocked out his gas meter.  The fire department came and shut off the gas.  They are going to have a mess to clean up tomorrow.  No one was hurt.

indsguiz -> RE: Ike (9/15/2008 12:02:58 AM)
