Hey Guys,

I am looking to buy a my first set of realy good fishing glasses can someone point me in the right direction i Know they are expensive I just dont want to throw my money away

Charlie,

I've bought them from 10.00 to 100.00 and can tell you that it really hurts to lose or break a pair that cost close to 100 bucks.  For fresh water the best is amber or a light yellow, for the salt you want a dark blueish shade. I now buy the 20.00 range shades with the magnifiers built in as bifocals. Can't tell the difference. You can find them in the sporting goods dept. of your local or chain dept. store. If you want to spend more, Orvis is having a sale right now on some of their mid-price sunglasses. Orvis.com

wal mart cheepies work good for me. i lose at least a few pairs a year or break them. i got a decent pair for 20 and had them now for almost a year. i would hate to lose an expensive pair which i am sure i would.

I bought a really good pair of glasses on line....just google eltonoptics....I bought the Wraptor style and really like them....with shipping the cost is about $60

Please remind me to remove the sunglasses from atop my head wen connecting/disconnecting dock lines. [8D]

Jumping between the boat and pier or dock was not a good idea [8|]

I would like to buy another $120 pair of Carrera or $95 Serengeti driving glasses but just keep buying other necessities instead- that is enough to fill the truck or half a tank in the boat.
If I spent more time driving I definitely would have them again.

I lost 3 expensive pair then found some decent cheap sunglasses at Grossmens Outlet Store in Allegheny NY and have not lost them docking yet.

I also found some sunglasses with magnifiers at Dollar Wave that were pretty good-I went back to buy more and they were closed

Polarized Glass with a 2x or 3X  magnifier would be even better-use lanyard!

I saw them on Orvis and i ordered them i got the amber ones with the magnifiers that blend i bought the next type up a little more but i like the way they look

Costa Del Mar's are probably the best polorized fishing glasses I've ever had.....

polarized work for me. Pick them up @ WalMart. Not as bad as it sounds, they actually have some very nice pairs that have held up great over the years.

If none of the above suit you for river fishing, try any pair with the "Coppervue" lenses. This color works amazingly well on SR. Fished the SR for 20 years and found this beat out grey and amber.
