That money goes into the states treasury. It's up to Rendell what it's used for. Maybe if Palin doesn't make it to Washington we can convince her to run for gov here.

i'm in for that. nothing like a fellow fishing and hunting person in a gov. position!!

a lot of the oil drilled in alaska is from public land.  the revenue check or as some misleadingly name it a windfall tax, is basically a fee paid by oil companies to pump oil from the peoples land and the people get some of the proceeds.  seems to me that is the way it should be - the people getting some of the money owed them instead of letting the government spend it for them.  isn't that what the big O want to do, spend our money for us!

Not entirely true. Alaska, on top of the ROYALTIES you mentioned, has also imposed ( with Palin's support ) a windfall profiit tax.

As you can see by this article the $1,200 windfall profit tax is on top of the approximately $2,000 royalties money the people of Alaska will receive this year.

So then imposing a higher tax on the profits of one specific industry  (this is not across the board but only on the oil companies) is not a windfall tax? Please explain!
Spin away but its still a pig is still a pig and he is still changing his positions faster and more often than a snagger setting his hook!
How did that stance on not catering to the religous right work out for him. Thank you Mr Fallwell for letting me speak at your school.

The fact of the matter is Waderboy, when a Republican taxes it is fiscal responsibility for the masses.  When a Democrat taxes it is socialism.

what's to wonder about the 80% approval rating - she's giving each alaskan $1200 courtosy of the oil companys that she's taxing. the remaing 20% are the alaskan oil people.
