zero will allow the bush tax cuts to lapse, thus increasing the base tax rate.  then he proposes to cut some peoples taxs but not as much as the bush tax cuts.  then he is going to raise the taxes on everything above $250,000.  thats just not peronal income it's also business income.  so how many businesses are going to absorb that tax increasae and not pass it onto consumers, you and me.  out of that 1650 you'll keep 950 and everything you buy will increase.  sounds like a great plan to me.

No, he plans to leave SOME of Bush's tax cuts in place. Secondly, since Bush's wonderful tax cuts have resulted in a decline in real wages, how have they benefitted the wage earner?

Let's see Smaller job growth ( actually job LOSS in recent months ), declining wages, more people falling below the poverty level, more people without healthcare, huge defecits resulting in a declining dollar, and rising inflation. Bush's tax cuts.

Sound's like a GREAT plan to me.

Remember Senator ( maverick ) McCain called Bush's tax cuts favorable to the rich, and irresponsible in a time of war.

CANDIDATE McCain, thinks they're great, and wants to expand them.

obma buys a house that he paid 53% less than its real price, that broker is in jail for a list of things ,he will be in for a long time the man said he was broke and  was jobless he had 2.5 mill put in his bank from a muslam group ,

i would like a better choice of cans but we only have 2 and ron paul backed out so im going for the guy who has a tougher record on pork spending

Tippy,

Pappy hit on part of it. But mostly because under Obama's plan, if your making $1600 every two weeks, you'll see a tax CUT, not increase.

Good cause I can barley afford to pay my motgage...not that I'm complaining, at least I have a house, but my wife and I work hard for it and can barley make ends meet...I don't know how some Americans are doing it....

I tend to agree with that..I think my $ will be worth less. Like you said no company will loose their bottom line because of taxes, we will just pay the diference..the fleecing of the working class continues....

From another post:

Tax their profits - they'll charge you more at the pump!

They will get their $$$  and margin of profit first and you will pay for it!

Are they going to do the same for every company that makes a "windfall"???

If they do, you will pay for it!

Politicians learned that a long time - it's about time the rest of the voting public did!

Not entirely true.
Obama proposes freezing the estate tax at the scheduled 2009 levels.
If the estate is valued over 3.5 million or 7 million for married couples, then yea, it’s 45%.
If under the $3.5 / $7.0 jointly mark, you are exempt from the tax.

McCain favors a 15%(based of the capital gains tax  level) and exemption under $5 / $10 million. So it may be 15% or not depending on the current captal gains tax.

Right now, under Bush, the tax is 45% with a $2 million exempt.
Also, under Bush, It’s scheduled to be repealed, eliminating the tax altogether. Otherwise, after that it will revert back to 55%.

Care to cite your source that can prove the decline in wages was a result of Bush's tax cuts and not a combination of other events he had little or no control over.

I would also like to see the numbers on how Obama is going to give 95% of Americans a meaningful tax cut without puting us deeper in debt. Voodoo economics perhaps or is he going to cut those social programs the liberals love so much--Fat Chance

Thats funny!  I dont understand how you will criticize Obama for promising to cut taxes for the middle class, then defend McCain for the continuing and expanding Bush's tax cuts??  I would like to see how McCain is going to balance the budget, as promised, by the end of his first term with out including the war on Iraq.  You want to talk about Voodoo economics, explain that one to me!!

Spoon,
Personally I would not mind paying more taxes if the money went directly to funding some projects like the WPA.  But with the government being what it is today they will create more commissions to "stydy" the problem and then a massive layer of administrators to run the thing and the only thing that would be created would be more gov't jobs.  And believe me there is nothing harder than killing a government entitlement.

They are both talking out their a$$ when talking tax cuts when we are so deep in debt and our infrastructre in need of so much repair. McCain trying to appease his base and Obama trying to B.S. the rest of the population.

Gentlemen,
Great strides could be made in reducing the tax deficit if only MODERATE tax increases were imposed on PROFITS and EARNINGS in excess of $200,000.  Unfortunately, the way gov't works,, they want to create a huge windfall and will over do anything they try.  The trick is to raise taxes slightly while REDUCING Government Spending.  That's the catch.  The reduction in spending.  Every tac dollar that is reduced in the spending makes each new type of revenue worth twice as much. This can be accomplished by more competitative bidding with no allowances for "cost overruns" and forcing a project, once bid, to remain locked as to specs.
I have personally seen where a gov't project is submitted with certain specs to attract bids with an "out" clause that allows for increased compensation in the case of the specs' changing for the project.  The bidding specs are unrealistic and once the company gets the bid they call for a revision of the specs and the project winds up costing 2-3 times what it was projected to cost when the bid was let.
Same with congressional funding.  If we could eliminate "riders" and earmarks the cost of most funding would drop by almost 30% and lots of pork barrel spending would go away.
It gets real complicated trying to delve into the comlexities of government spending since most of the spending revolves around money going to companies that have huge investor bases (stock market) that depend on the profits to sell stock.  But one of the biggest costs of government is the cost of labor.  Reduce the labor force by 25 % and the gove't budget would drop by 6% (+).  I am not talking about reducing the Armed forces either.  I'm talking about reducing the number of analysists and advisors who work for the Military but never handle a single piece of ordanance.  Like I said complicated.

So, how about we just get rid of some legislators!  Wouldn't that reduce government spending?  We could reduce government spending by reducing government!  I'm guessing no congressman is gonna step up and support legislation to do this.

with getting rid of pork barrel spending, needless commities and special interest groups, stopping any more govn't run systems (health care), we can eliminate tax dollars, big time!. thus putting this money into the deficite that so many people are worried about. maybe without raising taxes.
