Barack Obama said firmly that families are off-limits in the campaign for president, reacting to news that GOP running mate Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

Sen. Barack Obama campaigns in Monroe, Michigan, on Monday.[image]http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element/img/2.0/mosaic/base_skins/baseplate/corner_wire_BL.gif[/image] "Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."

S-10 -> RE: a bit of class.......... (9/1/2008 7:12:42 PM)

It's too bad CNN and the like don't feel the same way. I've already heard more about that topic than is necessary from the news channels. Just glad there is a hurricane to keep them partially occupied. CNN must think the little gal is the one running for president. As for Obama and McCain, they do seem to be trying to keep the campaign fairly civil .

s, i think it will get dirty pretty quick.  you and i have been down the road for a long time and we see what happens in the last stretch.  shame they cannot disagree and get along like us[:D]

a little more class exhibited today:

If Sen. Joe Biden was hurt that Republican operative Karl Rove called him a “big blowhard doofus” at an event in Minneapolis Monday, he didn’t show it.
On hearing the news, Biden grinned and said “he’s a great American.”

ROCKHARD -> RE: a bit of class.......... (9/2/2008 10:04:03 AM)

hell bush has been called that by pelosi and kennedy for a few yrs now,,, biden blows off pittsburgh yesterday for the parade cause he said not a day of politics with gustav hitting the coast,but goes to scranton with gov.rendell to a italian festival and politics,think pitts was disenfranchised, doubt it pitts will still vote for the guy,they are pure dems at heart

LDD -> RE: a bit of class.......... (9/2/2008 11:00:02 AM)

what's your point Rock?? This is supposed to be about a little bit of class that is being shown by both sides in this campaign.  Good for McCain and Obama...it's refreshing Rock, to have some class since the last two campaigns for Pres. that have been run by Mr. Rove have shown very little class.  Unless you think denegrating the service of Vietnam Vets is classy?

ROCKHARD -> RE: a bit of class.......... (9/2/2008 6:36:31 PM)

yea i agree ldd,but i dont see it from no one but the canidates themselves,,and biden turning down pitts to go campaign in scranton with rendell shows alot of class

rapala11 -> RE: a bit of class.......... (9/2/2008 11:53:31 PM)

rock, they both had an opportunity to run their mouths, but acted with class.  that is all this post was about.  not everything has to be an argument about those lousy libs who are destroying the country.

Biden says Palin ‘warrants respect’Posted: 08:04 PM ET

[image]http://i.l.cnn.net/cnn/.element/img/2.0/mosaic/base_skins/baseplate/corner_wire_BL.gif[/image]SARASOTA, Florida (CNN) – Joe Biden again refused to attack the experience of GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, hours before she was to deliver a speech sharply critical of the Democratic ticket.
At an event in Sarasota, a voter asked Biden how he would debate Palin when she “was not prepared to face an international crisis.”
Biden offered a strong rebuke.
“Well look, the answer is one word: with respect,” he said. “She is the governor of a state. She warrants respect.”
He told the crowded high school gymnasium he would debate Palin on the issues, not on her experience of governor of Alaska.
“It will be determined by what her positions are,” Biden said. “Our disagreements will be based upon how fundamentally, if it is fundamental, and I expect it's likely to be, her views on everything form the Supreme Court, protecting a woman's right, all the way up to ending the war in Iraq. That's what it's going to be based upon.”

WASHINGTON - Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama said Saturday they will put aside partisan politics for a joint appearance at Ground Zero to mark the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Democratic and Republican presidential nominees, in a statement, said they will appear together at the World Trade Center site on Thursday "to honor the memory of each and every American who died" in the 2001 attacks.
The campaigns already had agreed to suspend television advertising critical of each other on Sept. 11. The McCain campaign has said it will air no ads that day.

tippy-toe -> RE: a bit of class.......... (9/6/2008 4:58:51 PM)

I think both Obama and McCain preach unity..lets hope they mean it. I think they do.

I think no matter who gets in there will be change. I'm just not sold 100% on either candidate. One thing is for sure we can't keep the status quo

Hey, would quo count in scrabble????

Bogeyjoker -> RE: a bit of class.......... (9/6/2008 7:35:34 PM)

Yeah...Obama publicly tells the crowd that "families are off limit" yet where do you think all these scandal scoops are coming from.
