Anybody think if we get this rain from the t.s., that it will be enough to bring in any "decent" numbers of fish? I live in SC PA and most rain was west of me tonight, but looks like it might move towards Erie by tomorrow. Seems with the cooling waters and fish prospecting the mouths maybe it will bring some in. ( But I somehow doubt many will report it and tell the good news to the rest of us!) Oh, well...I can't get up there yet anyhow...guess I'm just dreamin. Let the locals have a few before we come cruising north to crash the party! Good news is another storm is brewing in the tropics so maybe we'll get that too in another week or two, and really see something worth driving up for.

There are fish holding at the mouth of Walnut. Your best bet at this time year is to fish off the beaches.

Ill try to take a look after work today or tomorrow morning. Ill post what I see here.

I went down to 20 mile last night and there was no mouth at all. I took a couple of pics and will post if I can get them downloaded. After the sun went down I was casting spoons for about 45 minutes but I had to fish from the beach, waders were in the garage still, da.  I didn't figure on catching anything but it was still relaxing. We need a good long rain to get some action started.

It will undoubtedly bring a FEW explorers into the lower ends, but most will head back out as soon as they begin to drop. The lake temperature is still 74 degrees, and the majority of the fish are still well off shore. One would have a fair to good chance of catching a few fish over the next few days, but don't go EXPECTING big numbers, or easy pickings. And don't be suprised to find empty holes.

It looks like the lake is cooling off fairly good.  Might be a good weekend if you can stand the shoulder to shoulder stuff by the mouths.

Those temps are about 30-35 deg low!
The gray and black areas means there is cloud cover so it will not be accurate!

NOTICE: One of the satellites which provides the temperature data for Sea Grant CoastWatch (NOAA-16) sometimes fails to gather accurate data needed to create the surface temperature charts. NOAA is working on a timely resolution to this very important problem. In the interim, we have suspended use of NOAA-16 and are adjusting processing times to other satellite passes.

That what I'm sayin. Some guys wouldn't and don't know any better. That's why they follow these boards so closely. Obviously that picture was posted for just that reason.

That date of 10/22, and I know right where that pic was taken, I bet. Grassy bank about a hundred yards above the log jams on lower elk. I was right there with the other five hundred people trying harder not to snag one, than to catch one! Rain brought the creek up but by next day it had dropped and probably close to a thousand steelhead got trapped below the shallow gravel bars there and the crowd descended on them. Mostly six - seven lbers, but there were a few MUCH bigger and what appeared to be a big humped back Chinook with them as well. Ahhhhh.....good times!

Actualy the picture is from Trout Run, and it was meant to be a joke.  If you're dumb enough to make a trip of any distance from just seeing a picture... well then that's your own problem.

Not enough rain fell to bring the streams up much, if at all.  You're wasting your time if you're expecting to find more than a FEW here and there (which is normal for this time of year).

Yes, it is trout run.  Just trying to get everyone excited.  I see some folks here can read the EXIF data in the photo.  Real Good.

I'll let ya know.  I am going to be lurking around the stream mouths this weekend.  If in Erie might as well fish for Steel since I dont have a boat big enough for the main lake.

The mouth of Godfrey, though a little rough to get to and fish, would probably be a good stop too.
