Try Glendale Lake in the Killbuck area. The bass fisherman have been catching a lot lately.

Sorry to be late with this reply, have been away for awhile. Bowfin are not choosy, just about any lure will work. The bass fisherman catch them on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. a live shiner or some other baitfish will work.

Man I want to catch one of those in the worst way. We haven't really had the time to go up after them. Maybe today we'll give it a go. I was kinda thinking about fishing under 79 at Geneva Marsh. Looked like good Pike water there too.

I don't see why. but to each his own.

I can't keep these things off my damn hook.

Go to firemans beach, right off the dock, take 2 rods, catch small perch on the bluegill, and put them on the big rod and wail it out there. Nothing else really involved. Every time I've done this, I've caught at least 3. I hate those fish, they growl at you.

Might have to try that tomorrow. We're going to fish Slippery Rock today. I never fished Conneaut so I'll have to look that Beach up.

I hear you.  I really want to catch one too, but I live in Union County and it seems like every single place is far away to fish for them.  I go to Erie a few times a year, but I am not going to spend time trying to catch bowfin when I can be catching steelhead.

Black Moshannon is close by and I have fished it once.  It is very difficult to fish due to the vegetation.  I think if I went again I would rent a boat.

indsguiz mentioned them being there.  I know they stocked them there at one point in time and if you look at the F&BC website, they did catch some there recently during electrofishing.  I guess I will take your advice and fish from the bridge.  I am assuming you are talking about the bridge over by where you rent the boats.

Sounds like a great fish to chase with the fly rod, something I hope to do this spring.
