The main point that griffon makes is one that I believe is missed by those who feel the need to tell the world the exact site where they caught fish, what they caught them on, how long the drift was, what tippet to use, how much toilet paper you need to wipe your tail after having chili and a six pack the night before.... etc..... There are some fisherman who want to jump out of their car, walk the minimal distance to the stream, put on the correct fly or bait and start smacking steelies on the first drift and then brag about the 100 fish day they had and how much better a fisherman they are than everyone else. While I find that behavior distasteful, I can understand if a person has a limited time to fish and they want to make the best of their efforts. The sad thing for me is that when we gauge success on the number of fish we drag to the shore and we miss the fact that simply being out fishing is a wonderful gift in and of itself. Steelhead fishing is special, but it is not that special. If you want to challenge yourself and feel humbled and frustrated while fishing, try chasing muskies for awhile. I consider it casting practice interrupted on a rare occasion by a fish actually hitting the lure. Now that for me makes each of those few fish I catch way more special than the 20 or 30 I can land in an afternoon at the stop sign hole on Walnut. BTW the best muskie site on NWPA is ................. Good luck.
