ORIGINAL: AMR NO, that does not look like a salmon. And no, it is not cool to post this stuff here blabbing it to the masses, I dont care how much you enjoyed yourself and were rewarded for your early season efforts. These early season fish are skittish and can only be had with well presented techiques. That means that they wont hit if they have already seen 15 spoons, 18 different colors of pb, and an assortment of wolly buggers. You see what I'm saying? You were rewarded for sneeking under the radar and getting a few early season steel but now you just put the dam radar on the map for all to see. It is all about the essence of early steel, knowing that your catching em when everyone else thinks there is no point of even looking at their steel gear yet. You ruined that essence. Share with your friends, not the masses, come on man!!!! Dont call me selfish, this was a selfish act posting those pics here. What? Seriously... what? Essence? Essence of what? Come on man. SHARING pics and a report is selfish again how? Blabbing that a few trout made a "false" early morning/dark run to a creek mouth? They will continue to do that for weeks and with a good stained/heavy creek flow may even stick around for a few extended hours. BTW, that stained flow will take the "skittish" right out of them. They are skittish because the water is warm, low, and CLEAR, they are trout. What RADAR? If there is a radar for steelies entering the tribs then maybe you are confusing it with the bullseye you are placing on the WCO report page. Soon, the warden report page will announce the sighting of early morning "false" runs and a few anglers hitting the wall early in the am catching a FEW, early visitors, happens EVERY year as excited Steelie anglers anticipate the upcoming season. What is the big "secret"? Why don't you email the WCO and lodge your complaint with them. I think you will get a similar response as most will give you on this page. Get over it. As long as PA continues to stock this will happen EVERY year, why do you assume that this needs to be protected from public knowledge. I would be pretty certain that pretty much anyone that knows anything already knows that there are a few steelies lurking somewhere close. Soon enough all the tribs will be covered up with wader wearing anglers, I would venture to say even you. Go to the Walnut parking lot long about December. Last year I saw vehicles from ALASKA and OREGON, if they are coming here to fish for steelies then GREAT! If they are coming from where "true" ocean going Steelies are to fish here, then that should give you a pretty good idea of how lucky we are to have such a fishery to share. Put the RADAR on the National News. There are MORE than enough steelies to go around and its not just your Lake Erie permit that is paying for them. If you think you are being shorted, give me a call long about late October, mid November and I'll hook up 30 or so in a morning for you out in the boat. This site was created to share our knowledge, hints, and experiences for our love with other anglers. I know many members of this site that are more than happy to help out guys with questions and problems whether it is in the boat or on the streams, FANTASTIC all of you deserve thanks. IF anyone needs to re-evaluate "selfishness" you may want to look in the mirror. I am not trying to single you out, but I am tired of seeing all the criticism flying around here aimed at guys doing what the site is for. This site used to a great venue to share ideas and reports and questions, some of you have ruined it for many. The host is FishUSA, I am sure that they encourage all the discussion in the world about steelie fishing because their sales will increase dramatically as soon as the first early runners become more abundant.
