Anyone who can put that much time into an informative pre-season guideline or checklist for everyone to see such as Formerguide did should be commended. He could have easily kept his information to himself and not wasted his time. Mackj is clearly entitled to his opinion on things also, but is not with the majority opinion and should have just ignored what he thought was incorrect or misguided.

Sorry about that. The thoughts seem to be a big argument between tell and dont tell. I was hoping to lighten the mood . Anyway, no one was adding any more input ,so be it.

I would have thought you were VERY familiar with the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Rimshot!

Seriously, this has been fun, and while it certainly quickly devolved into some interesting and sprirted verbal sparring (which, if you can't tell, gets me going) I do believe that the inital thoughts put forth are worthy of consideration. Regardless, got up at 4am today, it was misting out, and a cool 53 degrees- can't wait!

Formerguide, that was a great post.  Anadromous, wise words: "When you stop counting, you start fishing"  I love that and hope to continue to focus less on catching (although it is fun to catch), and start enjoying the whole atmosphere more.  In the moments I have stopped worrying so much about catching, it has been freeing.
I hope to fish with you many of you guys this season.

Sorry for the response to Jonny, fellas.

He has a major hatred for me and follows me around from board to board. My original statement about Formerguides info was meant to help reinforce his goodwill towards other fellow fishermen out to possibly catch a fish of a lifetime this upcoming year. However, Jonny ruined it and took it to the dumpster where he lives, breathes, and loves. Sad that things like this are posted, but Jonny has no pride. He is a scum sucking wannabe New Yorker who lives in New Jersey(has no local identity) and is also a racist of a high order. He should not be worthy of standing by your side this fall in the tribs.

If you see him and he identifies himself, shun this Nazi. We are not the kind of group to accept racists.

I thank you formerGuide for all your input and thought. Unfortunatley, this thread has turned into a fight over Freedom of Speech and MackJ. Since this is my second season, and since last season I did not catch one steelhead. Can anyone maybe help me out.

I have a 10' Noodle rod, a Shimano sidestab reel with 6lb McCoy Mean green. I used diifferent jigs and minnows, also tried spoons. I had no luck. I watch and observed but still no luck. I played with the split shot/bobber height but no luck. Any help?

Also, formerGuide indicated a lot with Fly Fishing. Anyone have information and suggestions for spin fishing terminal tackle and line suggestions. This may help people very new to the sport like myself. Thank you.

Nice post.

I would like to just add that if you like catching fish after fish in one spot just think how a kid would feel doing the same thing. Give up your spot to a kid and his dad. Its not like you'll never catch a fish again. Some days I have spent more time helping dads and kids out and hardly getting any fishing in for myself. But to just see a little fella latch onto a steelie is all worth it.
Ok I said my two cents.

last year i watched 20 or so "anglers" above the blow downs at the elk access standing in 7 inches of water with fish swimming between their legs and numerous pieces of jewelery attached to their fins "fishing" what a gross display of ignorance that was witnessed i think this is a much needed thread and should be viewed by all people on this site kudos to you former
