I have fish it in the fall, any do an don;t in launching a 16 foot boat?

I have 17ft and launched out of elk last week. Water in good shape going out to inlet. There is a bar at the entrance. You can go to the left and there is an opening and a slot straight out. Seen some bigger boats going out and in the other day also. If you have someone to watch for you in front of boat it will help.There was a little chop so could see the bar real easy.
