I agree with fisherboy86, beetles and ants are typically the ticket on any stream this time of year. Also, nymphing in the heavy riffles is a good idea as the water warms. Turn a few rocks and match whatever you see crawling around. I don't know if the creek you are talking about has tricos, but on most streams near me, the trico spinner falls have been pretty good first thing in the morning. If there are tricos hatching in the creek, you'll notice swarms of them above the riffles, early in the morning. I typically prefer to use the female spinner, instead of the male spinner pattern.
