I already have my refigerator box, and sterno cans lined up. I may have to live under Whitman's bridge for a while.

With the ridicilous cost of gas, lots and lots of car pooling will be done this Chrome season. Im always up to pitching  in a full tank of gas for anyone who offers to drive. all I need is just a week notice or least 24 hours so I can schedule my pto days.  Trips myself are going to be limited since the neon is on its last leg really going to miss that 30+ mile to the gallon beater. oh well the thought of steelhead on the end of the line always brings a smile!

Cant wait to hear or shout "FISH ON"

For me it's smallmouth Bass first, then Walleye & Sauger, then carp.  Yeah, it's already been a good year and the summer is shaping up to be a winner.

I've caught steelhead in the tribs every labor day for about the past five or six years.  So that's around 60 some days until I give it a shot.

Kyler,

I think some car-polling is in order this year for sure!

I have big plans for this season's steelheading. I'm not going to let the price of gasoline ruin it. We have started a kitty now to pay for the gas this fall. An extra $20 dollars or so shouldn't keep us away. The crowds may not be as large, but I don't have a problem with that either. My father, our fishing buddy Mike, and I made 14 overnight trips to the tribs last year. We wanted to do 16, but fell short. We will probably do some three day trips this season. I have a lot of tying do between now and September. I hope to run into some of the fishermen from these forums.

Of course I'm counting this as the first big run with rainy, cool weather.  Not the one or two pods of fish that 10,000 anglers are throwing at nor that labor straggler...84 days.

There is no amount of gas money that will keep me off the Steelies...Labor day is when I get started...So about 60 days or so. Can't wait!

Got my wife a Toyota Corolla-35MPG.  It'll cost me the same for gas in that as it did for my truck 4 years ago.  But I'll still get up there.

Whats with the 80-90 days talk?  Going by my journals I have a steelhead in the smoker the last week of August to the first week in September.  50 days sounds about right to me.  One thing Ive learned early is the first few weeks they show up hit the right spot with the right lure and it will feel like late October.  No further comment on said spot or lure.

i keep getting my gear out and leaning it against the wall in the living room.  my family and the cat just groan.  it has been a long time since i last took part in the fun and am looking forward to it.  wish i could put 100 gallons of gas in lay away before then.
