I can't see it cause it's blocked here at work, but if it's the cell phone popping pop corn thing it's a hoax.

http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/06/cellphones-cant.html  This is a hoax, but it looks pretty neat.  I wonder how many fools out there have tried this....

A rad is a unit to measure absorbed radiation. Or the amount of X-rays when absorbed that causes the destruction of cells.

That's if I remember correctly.

you are correct and for that you will catch many fish
its just like taking a xray just over a longer period just a little marble counter tops also put out and so does decaying matter but a cobolt 57 or cadium 109 are a little different spectrum/ wave when i use the xrf i have to ware a dosemitter and write down start and finish and that is measured in milacuries

Whatever he does it didnt invove writing class.  Sorry leadman just kidding.  Its hard to explain that stuff.  My brother majored in physics and was a nuclear engineer for the navy, cant grasp any of what he says on this subject.

yes a 'rad' is a measure of absorbed dose, 1oo ergs/gram.  it is for any material, not just tissue.  for tissue the 'rem' is used and 1 rad = 1 rem.  why i asked is because for the low energy radiation a cell phone emits would not penetrate the outer layer of dead skin.  so there is no 'absorbed' dose.  cell phone use a max frequence of 849 MHz, which converts to 3.5 micro eV, a micro is 0.000001 or a millionth.  it take 2 - 5 eV to break molecular bond to tramform DNA.  so it seems inconceivable for cell phones to cause tissue damage.  BTW i'm a radiation physicist and stayed in a holiday inn express.
