This past weekend, I finally got to take out the little man for his first fishing trip.  We hit a pond in our campground called Little Flipper Lake, he had a blast.  We fished with some wax worms under a float and caught some nice sized gills and almost caught a 4-5 pound bass that followed one of the gills into shallow water, but backed off when it got close to shore!  We'll get him next time for sure.  Anyway, here's a few pics of Nolan and some of his fish.

The very first one!

Some other random fish from the afternoon.

And a visitor while we were there...

I want a spongebob float for when I fish the access area of Elk or Walnut.  Now that would be a sight.

Cool pics can't wait to get my young one out on the water some day.  Gotta a little ways to go she is only 3 months.

That little guy is a fish catching machine....  The float is a killer too.  I would love to have one of those floats for the stop sign hole.  It would definitely be impressive...

Smallie,In case you are not aware of this, you can go on the PF&BC web site & download an application for a childs first fish award. All you have to do is send in the form with a pict. & they will send a certificate that I am sure you child will be proud of. I think that they send other stuff also. I did that with my kids & grandkids & they all were thrilled. makes for some great memories.  sam

Thanks for reminding me, I remember seeing that when I filled the application out for my Steelhead a few years back and thinking "I'll have to do that for Nolan."  Of course the time comes and I completely forgot.  Thanks!

The perfect start for any young fisherman. Great pics.

It sounds like you can put that float in the classifieds section and make some money ;)

Those are some great memories you're making there. There will be lots more to come. I'm at the point now with my youngest (12 years old) that he catches WAY more than I do. Of course he's alot faster at getting to the rods than I am. The best days are when I have my son and my dad on the boat, I sit back, drive the boat and watch them pull the fish in. My days as the son who gets to catch all the fish are long gone, but the days of being the grampa and getting to catch all the fish are yet to come!

Maybe Luhr Jensen could come out with a "Patrick" dipsy.

Great job, getting the boy "hooked" at a young age!
