at 3:40 and told him to get his butt out of bed (even though our spot was 20 mins away.)So we get ready and off we went at about 4:34 (after dads POT of coffee.)We were set up in the edge of a corn field at 5:25. once we heard the first gobble which was at about 5:50 i started to tree yelp (or atleat try) and heard some gobbling. Than we heard more gobbles behind us,by this time we prolly had 7 or 8 gobblers. The first 2 we heard real early in the morning were gobbling like crazy and we knew were they were, they were a couple fields over, very far away. I kept calling on my slate and they were getting closer. Right before they came over the field my dad told me to get ready, but once they were over the hill they ran. OH well maybe next week, than we moved. About 7:50 we had a BIG! hen come 14 yard from us and I was tryin to put a beard on her, but nothing. Than at about 8: 20that we saw 26 hens/jakes. Than at about 9:00,i was calling on my slate and heard 2 gobbles and was thinking were they would go if they come out into the field. Not 2 mins later i look to my left and 2 BIG!!!!! LONGBEARDS about 60 yards from me, I called but they just kept goin donw the field to where were this morning lol go figure. i tried the run and gun on em but nothin. than my dad and i thought we would move for the last time and got setup and sat it was about 10:30 when we were set up. my dad and I were just shooting the breeze for about 20 mins when my dad looked up at the decoys and saw something out of place and saw there was a hen. He said Ryan get ready and I asked why? he said cause you have 2 infront of you with beards. So i put the sights right on his neck and squeezed one off and saw i had put a bird on his back lol My dad was so proud of me cause he or my gramps never got a bird. My dad said see how far that was so i put the rangefinder on him and i was 35 yards! It was the best hunt i was ever on. next one will be with a bow
