Now they are banning peanuts because of a few people with allergies....

Here's a tip for people with peanut allergies...DON'T SIT BY PEOPLE EATING PEANUTS!

What's next, putting up floor to roof netting in the outfield to protect the poeple who can't catch a homer?!?!?

I thought the same initially.  But one thing to ponder.  The rediculous reactions I'm hearing all day to this are a prime example of our need to feel offended by everything.  People are offended at the idea that something as simple as this may help others around them.  Its just peanuts.  I see about 2 people eating them at the ballpark.  I actually believe 100 percent that peanut eaters are the minority.  I dont see thousands, hundreds, or even dozens of peanut eaters at the ballpark anymore.  So who really gives a f--- that they are taking peanuts away in a ballpark that most of us will never even go to?  I cant imagine a person even who goes to games every night at that stadium saying "That's it.  Im never coming back now.  I cant have peanuts."  I see a lot of people buying 7.50 beers at ballparks.  Now that's offensive.

I have a friend and a grandson who will literally die if they come in contact with a pinhead of peanut or peanut oil and don't have their medicine handy. Having said that, a small section of bleachers is all that is necessary to solve any problem. Both still do all the things everybody else does except they always ask what is in the food they are being served and always have medicine with them. A couple rush trips to the hospital drove that home to the grandson.

Mike,

From my understanding, alergies to peanuts are quite severe ( in comparison to others ). Many foods often contain some peanut product that may not be apparent to, or expected by the consumer. Even food prepared along side peanuts can trigger severe reactions.

Now I wouldn't go so far as to say BAN them. But how about the peanut vendor, doesn't also prepare/handle nachos etc? Restaunts should inform customer when peanuts are included in a dish, or if it is prepared using peanut products such as peanut oil. Wait staff should also be aware, so when asked they can safely direct customers to menu items that are safe fror them.

There is a major difference between sneezing, and DYING. Yes they need to avoid those things, but you have to KNOW of their presence to avoid them. Often times, food products that one would NOT suspect of containing peanuts, or their byproducts, do. I agree, we can't fit the world around such folks, but we CAN help them fit into the world more easily, and safely.
