I have a 16ft river jon boat with a 2001 Evinrude 18HP jet drive and would like to upgrade to 40HP.

So that 18 jet, was it a 25 in it's orginal form? will you be parting with it?

Yea - I'd like to find out more about the 18 hp Jet. Is it short shaft and if you are parting with it, what are you asking for it?

don't know about the long/short shaft difference. It came as an 18 straight from the factory, it wasn't modified. I'll decide what to do with it after I get a replacement.

I have a 40hp mariner that im thinking of turning into a jet and selling, but it would be about a 25hp after the conversion.

why is an 18hp jet drive not enough for a river john? Do you really wanna hit a submerged tree at 40mph in a john? I dont!
