It is not actually that hard at all.If it is not deployed,which meant it pulled out engaging your emergency breakaway surge breaks,just hook it back up.You may have felt at some point towing the boat an increase in engine torque required to tow the boat.If not,you're OK.If you are not sure,take a screwdriver to the spring which would have been deployed in this case,and reset the spring mechanism from underneath the hitch.This spring is near the fluid container you can only see from underneath.You may have got away with it,I had the same thing happen myself and my S-hook was even ripped off during travel.If it wasn't on yours,you're probably ok.
