So who is gonna be there? I know several are, but I'd like to know here so maybe we could all get together for Dinner/Supper one night to trade stories.

I'll be there Sun-Tues.. I'll have my lap top along- just don't tell my wife cause it's really hers & I'm sneaking it. Hehehe.

Yes! I'm not picky PA. I don't even **** when the Salmon River Tarpon (Fall Fish) eat the fly. At least if I'm catching those I know I'm doing something right!
Whatever we can find is what I'll be after. I have so many flies I'll be able to fish a couple styles too.
Just glad I'm healthy enough to make the trip.

PS- 750 after this higher water & cold snap= good times I hope.

Still dreaming of a nice Brown Trout. We'll see.

I'm hoping to get up there........my annual trip is usually this sunday through wednesday.......but everyone that goes is feeling the money crunch.......and that is not a good thing.......so I am pretty sure I won't make it.......I read a report on another site that said a good push of salmon came through with the last high water.......

You should have fun........the Fly Zones should be loaded with all kinds of fish...........

Sunday I am planning on getting skunked in the fly zones somewhere.

Planning on some dsr time with Trav42 on Monday. He offered to show me around as I've only been there a few times.
Have known Trav. via the interwebs for like 3 years. It will be good to shake your hand & fish together bro.!

Tuesday I'll hit some open water & hope to find a nice Steel who wants to go for a car ride before I take off. I don't know how long I'll fish. May stick around till Wed.. One never knows....

I'd head lower for trout if I were you--plenty of steel and a few kicker browns around.

So I went a fushin' in a Big River.
Takeoff 0200. Even Tabitha AKA Cuddle Buns was sleeping. Same kitten we found this Summer fushing.

Rain, but not many cars.

After about an hour it stopped & it was clear sailing. Five hour trip in four hours twenty minutes.
I was on the river at daybreak.

Here's where I staked out early. crowded.

Zombies galore. Just look for anything white & that's a Salmon that's dead but doesn't know it yet...

Well- this one may not swim so well any more...

Third cast my line wrapped a rock. I wasn't casting far just yet, so I could see the fly dangling. I was just about to go kick my line free when this dude swam up & grabbed. Most of the Chinnies were 15-16 pounds.

I had a Big Red Coho on with this fly from April. It came over four feet to make the grab.
A few casts later it got stuck to a spawning Chinnie & I broke it off. No other fly I had would interest a Coho.

The river was on loaded with Salmon, but i was up a tad high for Trouts I guess. About a mile lower they were going out on stringers. A Native American fella who cooks burgers river side said 2/3 of the fish being cleaned are Steelies.
I fished down there amongst the bait fishers & caught nil, neither did anyone else while I was around.
The afternoon leaf hatch had come & the bite stopped.
So I go to check into my room only to find they won't take a check. Wouldn't even run my debit card # I reserved the room with. I had left it with the wife & they wanted to see the card.
I tried to find a place to cash a check in a back woods fishing town @ 1700 on a Sunday.
Well- it didn't work out so well.
All I had cash wise was food & gas $ because the wife forgot how much I needed (hence the check).
The whole town treated me like I was a degenerate or some ****.
WTF people- some of us are still honest in the world!
I was very ****ed a little tired, so I took a nap.
Just then the river sirens went off to keep me from sleeping.
When I left there were all kinds of emergency workers parked by the river.
That could only mean one thing- dead hooker found in the river.
I didn't stick around.
Down the road I went.

Had to stop in a rest area for a brief nap somewhere along the line & I drove mostly with the windows down trying to stay awake. 2300 hours I was back home & instantly to bed. ****house.
At least I got to catch some Salmons & see a river full of fish. Even though I didn't get to see any trout on my line & spent most of the time walking it was amazing.

Update. Here's what I did with the wonga I saved by coming home. She was born July 19th. My little girl & I went to pick up some things yesterday, saw this little thing & just couldn't say no. When the whole family got home we went & picked her up. Ferrets are super cool if you've never been around one. They love to play.

Salmo, apply for credits cards (several companies) that have no fees. Keep them in your bag for emergency use only. IE: your fishing trip. You have the money in your checking so pay it off so at the end of the month you won't pay interest charges.

I learned that a long time ago using only one card. Some places wouldn't accept it at the time. Very frustrating because I don't carry a lot of cash.

It really sucks that you couldn't cash a check. Glad you atleast had some fun.

Bring more cash then you think you need, it saved my trip when like a dumbass didn't pack a backup reel, and on the first cast of the morning had a king take the gears out my flyreel. Thank god All Seasons had a cheap alternative.
