Personally, I simply want to go on record saying I think most people are very generous with information on this board.  Conditions--guys are providing photographs and videos.   I don't see how a person could be freer with information than that.  Fishing tips and advice--in the last month I have seen several guys give detailed "inside" information on how they are catching fish.  I expect they'd be even more helpful via pms.

Bottom line is these guys are such good fisherman that they have no reason not be generous with info.  If they go to one spot and it is not to their liking (too crowded, guys fishing are lifting or snagging or otherwise obnoxious) they just move to another spot.   They practice what they preach--walk upstream, drive a little, develop their knowledge base--so that they always have options, and except for totally blown out conditions, they pretty much always catch fish (and alot of them).

I echo these sentiments with a 4 hour drive myself and I am planning a trip.  This information helps so much.

I would also like to say thanks.  I found this site while searching for walleye information earlier this year.  With all helpful information that has been shared I think I'm going to try my hand at Steelhead in the tribs this year.  I won't know what I'm doing or where I'm exactly going but slowly I'm gathering enough information here to make me think I can do it.  So if you see some idiot from Warren looking lost it's probably me.  Thanks again!

To all who make a long drive, feel free to PM me anytime, other than Wed. cause thats my day off and I'm usually fishing or scouting. I live on the east side of Erie and will do my best to get you good info. I am not computer freindly and don't know how to post pics here. I take some pics everytime I'm out. Maybe someone can help me with this?

Thanks a lot seejib and as said before, all of the guys who make the reports for those of us who drive hours to make it to Erie.  I'll be lucky if I get 2 or 3 trips up this year, so the info will help me make the most of em!

I usually fish with a friend, but after reminiscing on the "first time" board, I called the old man and I'm gonna try to get him to go next weekend!

Best wishes to all, and I hope to see you guys on the tribs!

Sounds great to me.  If my dad isn't up for next Saturday, I'll let ya know.  If he goes, I'll definitely let ya know when my next available day is.  I'd come up more often, but unfortunately I don't know too many people around here that are into steel.  Hard to justify the 2 hour drive and fortune in bait variety to fish alone.  haha.

Not surprised!  There's a lot of hardcore anglers in Ellwood.  Especially musky fisherman.  I do most of my fishing on Arthur for wipers, the slippery rock, and Hereford Manor.  Family used to own Backyard bait in Wurtemburg if you remember that.  Prolly about 15 years ago.

I don't remember Back Yard bait, where abouts in Wurtemburg?  I remember Houn's Bait....Did you go to Ellwood?  If so, when did you graduate?

Thanks as well from those of us that have a 6+ hour drive. The discussion board no matter how spirited it gets is a big help and a great source of info and laughs during the off season.

Off season? This is Erie, when is there an off season!

We have steel in the fall winter and spring, Ice in the winter, Walleye, smallmouth and perch during the spring, summer and fall!  lol

That's what is so dang great about erie...you can fish 12 months a year for differant fish and techniques!!!

I graduated in '98.  I'm 28 years old.  Went to stinkin lincoln.  haha.

There was a bait shop at the end of the 5th street bridge for awhile that bought us out.  Can't remember the name of it though!

Ha, sounds prolific! Beautiful place you can get away without seeing anyone on Saturdays, now that's cool.

Johnny,  I tried PMing you, but you probably have to set it up to accept PMs in your profile.  I now live between Ellwood and Shenango...I hate to hijack this thread so PM me if you can.
