Just a note to say thank you to the originating members of the "one fly" as well as all who brought food, drink and prize contributions. It was a wonderful day. I can't say enough about the "good will" that was spread at that event. It was great to put faces to names, share stories and network in person with people that share a common piscatorial passion. This type of event perpetuates this passion among all that were there young(especially the young) and the old. Thanks for a wonderful day.

Without all of the people that came to share the day the event would not have happened.  As one of Indy's elves, I want to say thank you all for taking time to come and participate.  Honestly it is a labor of love to host everyone and to see everyone having a good time was well worth all the time and effort.  Thanks everyone for making today a success.  Also, as already mentioned, the generosity of many made the event possible.  I was amazed how many people stepped up to help.  That says a lot about the quality of the people on this board.

It was the intention of the one fly to be a free, fun and enjoyable experience.  With everyone's help I believe we were able to do that.

It was a most spectacular event.  I went without catching anything, but still had a great time.  Managed to have a heck of a hit from a jack at 7 pm tonight on walnut, so i wasn't completely fishless.    Had a great time, and I agree with anadromous.  Everyone involved in planning, coordinating, pulling off, or even fishing the tournament should feel proud.  Thank you for such a great day.  I hope everyone enjoys the patches.  Next year's pattern will be a contest in itself with any luck.

schlemoc  I love the patch.  Now I need to coax my neighbor into sowing it on my fishing vest.  I will be proud to where it everytime I fish the tribs.

I slipped mine in an old fishing license holder.  Keeps it from getting wet and still visible.  It'll work until you can coax them into sewing it on.  I tried to get a box of safety pins from the dollar store, but it apparently does not carry safety pins.   I'm already looking forward to next year.    Practice... practice ... practiiii *snap.  dang, lost another fly.  lol.

Just a reminder, fishusa, crowley's, and Greg Senyo donated stuff for the event.  I'll be writing them a thank you email for supporting this with their own efforts, time, and money.  For those who do not have Greg's email, it is:  gregsenyo@yahoo.com.  Let them know their generous donations were greatly appreciated along with everyone else who assisted and donated items to put this together.  It truly was a great event.  Thanks to EVERYONE!!!

Does anyone know if we should send a thank you to fishusa?  I don't know who to thank there or who was involved and do not want to step on anyone's foot.  Let me know.  Thanks

Gentlemen,
Thank you for all your kind sentiments.  I really don't think I did much.  Skip and Bug, Pxatim, and schlemoc all worked hard too.  I really need everyone who donated a prize, tokens, patches, plate, rod ect to send me your addresses  (hemilovr@hotmail.com) so I can remember names.  Simply because I wrote some of them down and, as usual, I lost them somewhere.
Guys, it's just like Bughawk and others have said.  What makes this event is the PEOPLE who attend.  YOU are the ones who make this special.  I had an idea, I developed the idea that there needed to be a rendesvous type event which wouldn't cost anything to enter and would promote fly fishing on the tribs IN THE PUBLIC WATERS.  I really appreciate all those who attended, brought food, donated items or helped with the administration.  Somebody said this was the best family reunion he had ever been to!  Well he's right we are friends and we have a familiar relationship and I think it's GREAT.  I'm excited to see the folks who are bringing their children and grandchildren to the event.  If we instill good stewardship values in them then there may be a great future for the event.
If I may say something that made me really proud;it was the way my grandson "stepped up"! He is learning the values and I observed him passing some of these along to other kids on the tribs.  This made me feel that I may be leaving a good legacy.  The same for the other fathers and grandfathers who attended.
I am very thrilled for all those who attended.  And I hope that next year can be as good.  With your help it will be.

I would like to extend a very big thank you to Mrs. Skip, Skip, Indy, and Bughawk for all their hard work on such a wonderful event. To all who donated the door prizes, thank you. To Schlemoc, thanks for the one fly patch. Looks great! As a first time attendee, I felt very much at home with all of you! You are a bunch of first class people. It was a privilege to attend this outing with all of you. It was great to meet and greet with all who I met. Thanks for allowing Bill and I to attend. Keep up the good work and hope to see you guys on the stream in the future!

Wow... what a weekend. It was truly a great time. And if you didn't make it up you really missed out.

Again it was great to meet everyone and put faces to names. Even better what the spirit of the event and the friendships made. Can't wait to see how this event evolves.

See you on the tribs.

Tim

I felt like I have known all of you for a long time. This was an emotional trip for me, due to my father's recent passing. Many thanks to Jack and Bug. The food was so good. I should go with my instincts as far as the fishing goes. I caught five on Friday while I was practicing for the tournament. I caught none during the tournament. I lost my fly by my own stubborness, hooking one in the tail and just holding my line to try and either pull it out or break it off. I tried to retrieve it, but the fish would have nothing of that. All of the participants are so nice. You are not the trash fisherman that we hear about, you are ladies and gentlemen. I am looking forward to running into each and every one of you, just not in my hole!

Nope . DT & I fished up at the blow downs above that fiasco. Should have heard the cursing after dark at that spot ; a great family environment for sure . If we tried to fish I'd have to sit on someones lap. I did manage to land my first fish with a flyrod on that black wooly bugger . Maybe next year we could do a one fly tourney for night fishing ? It's usually better

Just a thought to say a quick (or not quick!) prayer for Rap's speedy recovery. It really does make a differance.

sure does, giz, i am up here on the roof cleaning leaves out of the gutter...........not    kind of real excited about next year, though.  may even fish (dano, will use my own stix).  talked to some of my eastern ohio buddies about the event and they were real interested, but i told them that we belong to the "brotherhood of the long rods" and it is hard to become a member

Gentlemen,
Have been going through a lot of pm's and I honestly think that next year we may see 65-70 actual entrants.  We may need a bigger place to hold it, or was everyone satisfied with the pavillion?  I'd really like more room but if we move I'd prefer someplace more centrally located between Elk and the Nut.  It cost us almost an hour total fishing time this year for the commute.  Does anybody from the Erie Area know of another picnic area between Elk and the Nut on Rt 5?
