I went to Texas to fish with some friends on the flats & for Tarpon. It was pretty cool.
Redfish

The water. About ankle deep as far as you can see. Freaking crazy!

One of my friends. They like queer shirts down there. It's outta hand.

Oyster bed

King Cotton!

Dead pig along the road.

Too damn flat for me on the coastal plain.

Fishy looking.

Big Oil in the Gulf

Lady fish

Saltwater Catfish.

Lots of $

The Gulf.

Where the Tarpon were rolling. Sorry- I got my camera soaked around this point. No Tarpon pics..

My friend KT. He's got a show called The KT Diaries. Showed up @ the lodge one morning & took me Tarpon fishing. For free. Damn good friend!

The beverages!

The food. Best meat I've ever eaten. And yes- that's fresh Redfish!

Redfish.

Fishy.

Pretty much all I can show. Hope you like the pics..

5 days of fun wrapped up in those shots. Texans treated me well. I didn't meet one person who didn't say "Welcome to Texas" & go out of their way to make certain I had a perfect trip.
Funny thing to me was talking to a dude who said he lived right up the street. I asked how far? "About two hours" he says. Haha.
This wasn't a big money trip. I have friends down there & it was a gathering. Guys with skiffs poled those who didn't.
Split gas in the boats & all that.
I hope to make it next year.
Already planning on SC for Reds this fall. I got an invite from a friend down there. Yeah man.

Lived in Houston for 2 years.  Loved it.  The inshore and offshore fishing is a blast and spoils you.  Freshwater just isn't the same anymore.

I landed in Houston & was picked up there by one of the guys.
We staked out in Port OConner. Also hit Aransas for a day.
The Tarpon thing was very cool.
It is very flat down there. I missed the hills almost as much as my kids.
The first day back I went Brookie fishing just to be in the hills again.
It was a great trip. Real fun group of guys that I met up & fished with down there.
No corny shirt for me. The funny thing about that was everyone had a 4WD with a lift kit- and they all had Mango colored fishing shirts. Not the guys I fished with, but the people we saw. Kinda funny.
